|Alaska TJ||5 months later, I reinstalled my skid plate (not knowing that I shouldn't have driven with it off for very long). The reinstallation fixed a problem that I has with noises in the drive train, but all of a sudden, my transfer case linkage needEd to be adjusted again. I guess that now I know why it needed to be adjusted in the first place. That skid plate is holding the drive train up and in its proper place and alignment.|

|Alaska TJ||Thanks for the comments. I got under the jeep today and checked out the situation. There was no obvious issues that I could see that resulted from my drive shaft rebuild, but I had my gal put it into and put of 4hi repeatedly before I did a quick adjustment on the linkage that seemed to fix the issue for now. I never really had checked out the linkage before, but it was relatively straight forward. Thanks again!|

|Shelby427||Yeah some brain child at Chrysler decided mounting one side of the bracket for the shifter on the T case and the other on the body. Could be the shifter bushings popped out or the bracket came off.|

|Kota7x||You may want to try to adjust the linkage on the Transfercase to see if you can get it back to where it was.|

4WD shift lever position wrong in 4HI
Last weekend, I removed and rebuilt my front driveshaft. Now, if I attempt to shift into 4HI, it will go into 4HI, but in order to do so, I must pull up (into the 4HI lever position) and then to the right and up a bit (getting close to the Neutral position).
What's going on here? I rebuilding my driveshaft, all I did was replace the U-joints and installed a new ball centering kit.
My jeep is mostly stock with 10.5x31 tires.
2004 Wrangler X 4.0 automatic
