Jeppie Well for what it's worth, I ordered my 2012 Jeep Wrangler Sahara (Unlimited) today. I learned yesterday why I was having trouble finding the Sahara tan. It's no longer available from the factory. It may be in another month or two, but no guarantee yet, according to the Jeep factory's daily updates. I'm not waiting till after Christmas to get this thing!

That said, I was leaning only a bit towards the tan. The "deep cherry red crystal pearl coat" will look just fine in my garage (or sunny driveway) or canyons . . . I actually think the "saddle leather" (baby poop brown?) seats will probably look better with the top or doors off of the deep cherry than the tan. I know. I'm rationalizing a BIT. However, I certainly can put some brushed aluminum or stainless accessories on that deep red (e.g., grill inserts?) and have it "pop" out a bit.

My NEXT homework assignment, while waiting the next several weeks, will be to line up perhaps a couple of bumpers and a set of wheels (maybe the 17" black painted aluminum or similar? Maybe faux beadlocks, as JKaufman suggested?) and tires so that I can take off the 18" Moab cast-aluminum machine-faced wheels and All Terrains at the time of delivery and sell them "new" with the 25 miles or so they'll have on them. Some friends have told me there's a market for brand-new Jeep wheels and tires. I hope so. I don't need 10 (and can't afford 'em)!

Thanks for all the well-wishing! Jeppie

My colors are the deep cherry red and the Sahara tan. I am leaning towards the tan (the red is gorgeous, but my Avalanche and Dodge Ram were both a "maroon" version). Plus, when my wife made a face and said the tan looked like it belonged in the military or on an African safari . . . I replied, "Yep." HOWEVER, it looks like the tan is becoming scarcer (at least on a 200-mile radius search and "build ur own" ordering). Just test drove one last week, and it sold this week. However, didn't have all my options on it.

After being disappointed in not being able to order wheels from the factory with the vehicle, I'll really be frustrated if the tan option has now dropped off the table! Wow. I thought I was moving fairly early in this journey!!
Some imitation beadlocks would be worth looking into, I drive a Tj but am looking to replace a jeep commander with a jku and it's between the tan, mango tango, and the 70th aniv. Edition brown.

Thanks Mr. "S" ! It's interesting, just in browsing the threads how many Jeepsters seem to also have an interest in firearms (just an observation from a guy who retired last year after 24 years in L.E., the last 6 as the dept. rangemaster).

Howdy

Just joined, checking in for the first time. My nickname's NOT a pun on "Jeep." Got that handle over 30 years ago! Gonna pull the trigger this week, ordering a 2012 Sahara Unlimited (first Jeep). Down to two colors. Have usually had pick-ups (Ford, then Ram, then Avalanche). Have to say I'm irked that it's not easier to order choice of wheels from factory, considering the purchase price. Do I really have to take 'em "the way they come," order 5 news ones aftermarket (Q-tec or Mopar), and sell the originals? I'd rather simply tell the dealer to send it here from Toledo with black aluminum or Beadlock and pay the difference! Help? Jeppie
