I also found an ad down in Georgia for the same jeep, same pics> 1999 Jeep Wrangler Sahara Coupe - Cars
this is the craigslist posting> Wrangler 1999 SAHARA Amazing Jeep
And i thought the same "to good to be true" idea, so i started researching it via google images and sure enough i found the same pics and looked into the links. You claimed that your sister was in the FBI internet thing, and i would appreciate it if you refer this situation to her. SCAMMERS SHOULD BE PENOLIZED! reply to me via email firstname.lastname@example.org thanks a lot.

It is still listed on craigslist now. The lady emailed me and said she moved to North Dakota (first tipoff there...what are the odds anyone would move to ND?, lol).
OP - If your sister is indeed looking into this, send me a message, I'd be happy to forward the email. Glad you didn't get scammed out of actual cash, your pride is recoverable

|Colin||That ad with that jeep is always on craigslist. Usually they have it for 2700 in my area. Too bad it's a scam because it's one of the nicest jeeps I've seen.|

Also in the meantime i have seen this same scam several more times, which is good and bad, i have seen many people admitt they lost their money. But as long as these dumb asswipes keep posting the better odds of nailing them.
I would to have 2 minutes alone with an idiot like this, at least under 700 yards DPMS Panther style!

Sorry to hear about the scam as these Jeeps can bring out the emotional side in us.
Thanks for posting your experience as I'm sure others will learn by it thus helping our community. No need to apologize as you did no harm to us, but IMHO actually opened our eyes to a real problem with purchasing via the internet.
I'm up in the NW suburbs of IL and am back to 2 Jeeps now after buying a 2012 JKU Rubi. Had a YJ on 1tons with an LS1 that I sold but kept my 99 Sahara for running trails.
Take care and wish you the best,

|silvasys||I had a Tech Sgt in the USAF tell me she needed to get rid of her Jeep for medical reasons. She was going to ship it via airlift to me, then drive it out - and *if* I didn't want it she's box it back up and take it back. I asked her one simple question, "could you send me the name of your commanding officer" and I never heard back.|

|Plowboy1970||I mess with the scammers. I email them, they tell me, I live in Alaska. I respond, hey, I got a friend up there, tell me where to send them to see it. Eventually, I send them one word, but written 10000 times..............SCAM|

|silvasys||How did you get taken? Did you send the $$$ to eBay? I only ask because I saw THE SAME add this PM and sent a response. I have done nothing but give a name and address. I'm VERY SUSPECT bu didn't think that was enough information to sink me... I'm courious...|

|Plowboy1970||As soon as I saw the pictures I knew it was a scam. I have seen those pictures on Craigslist for the last month. Sorry to hear that you fell for it. If it sounds TOO good to be true.....it is!!!!|
|09-22-2011 11:02 PM|
Awww, man, sorry about that.
At least you weren't completely ripped off. Many people just lose their shirts. Too often, it's people that can't afford it.
One of the best ways I have found to handle internet sales have been to have friends from forums (not even forums related to what I am buying) go check something out in person. I usually pay them a simple fee (in one case, rum lol) and they go check the person and/or item out.
Of course, there are forums I have been on for years and years, but still.
A while back I was contacted by a woman (in response to a clist add I had placed for a vehicle). They had engaged me over a few emails. Anyhow, they were out of state of course and contact someone I knew from there. They agreed to go check it out, so I called her. Well she wasn't going to be home for a week. I told her no worries, I'll just wait till she gets back. Still wouldn't give me an address. So I knew something was up. I called her back the next week, no answer. Obviously a scam, but being able to get an internet buddy to check it out, saved me from wasting money driving.

|fourty4magjr||Yeah make sure everything matches up and if it ever says anything about moving and the jeep is left in some other state or anything of the sort it's a scam also if they say anything about shipping the vehicle. And well always remember if it sounds to good to be true it probably is. I'm so sorry for the new buddy, and good luck again|
