Joe Dirt Good for you. I went back to school last year. I got an AA degree 15 yrs ago and I'm trying to finish my BA. I'm not saying it's easy, especially with a job and family, but it can be done. Good luck.

If you really, really want to. Just don't call girls dude. Even if it's part of the hip lingo, it just sounds stupid, IMHO.

Funny, the Dean told me the exact same thing when we were putting my classes in.

Unlimited Congratulations! and welcome to my world. I started back last March at the age of 47. I'm doing some online but most of my classes are on Monday nights. Your world will become work and writing papers.... (I'm so sick of writing 10 page papers, I have another one due on Monday.) We just got our graduation date this week: December 15, 2008!

The best advice I have to offer is don't get behind on the online classes, because if you wait until the last minute, the server is jammed by all the other people who waited untill the last minute. I try to stay two weeks ahead on things, that way if I have a bad week, I have time to recover.

Best of Luck!

amy That's fantastic, kg4kpg. Best o luck! It takes a lot of guts to go back to school like you are. It's even better that it's not coming out of your pocket.

kg4kpg Actually, both are online. I'll have weekly assignments, plus, I can use the campus for anything I need. I work 10 hours a day, classroom work is out of the question other than getting to go to lectures oncein a while. Plus, they have a Life Experience deal where If I have the right experience directly related to a particular class (like something to do with purchasing (current job), I can do a resume, get a letter from my boss, and get full credit for a course without taking it. I'm also going to go out to the USAF base and take some CLEP tests. Te school is Strayer University.

sgnellett Good luck! It'll be a PITA, but it'll be worth it! I'm just a few years younger, but I wish to hell I'd have done it while Uncle Sugar would have paid for it, I left a lot of $$ in my GI bill, now I'm finally back at it, and I'm 2 semesters away, so I can see the light at the end of the tunnel! If at all possible, look into taking any online classes and summer classes, it'll really take a bite outta how long it takes, I took full loads 2 summers in a row, it knocked a whole year off!

Back to school...

At age 41 and not in a civilian classroom for 22 years, I registered for winter quarter today. Based on my previous college credit plus my military transcript (really) I am starting with 45 quarter hours so I am a sophmore. I am going to get a Bachelors in Business Admnistration in Contract and Aquisition Management. I can only take 2 classes per quarter and they said I should be done in about a year and a half. End result will be a GS-11/12 Contract Specialist position at the hospital. I'm pretty stoked (yeah, I know the word). GI Bill and Army Tuition Assistance is paying for it all. First two classes are Intro to E-Business and Intro to Sociology. Wish me luck, starts January 7.
