Tom McDonnell I answered my own question today. I replaced the harmonic balancer/vibration dampner and that cleared up the funky ticking noise. Heck of job to do but well worth it.

Load ticking noise / Harmonic balancer?

I thought maybe I had spun a bearing. But the motor runs strong and has great oil pressure. Theres a loud ticking noise coming from the front of the motor though. And when I depress the clutch the noise goes away a little. I also noticed that the harmonic balancer/main pully seems to be wobbling when the motor is running. I removed the fan belt and grabbed hold of it and it doesn't seem loose but I did notice that theres some type of rubber insulator sticking out of it.

If this insulator has dried out and or is missing can it cause the balancer to become loose and tick loudly?
