StrizzyChris ^Addendum....again I am new to jeep mods and I am sure I am just scratching the surface of mods I will do to this. I'm sure later i will re-gear and make further power train changes but I am not looking to be forced to do them as soon as I lift it^

StrizzyChris I have read a few threads on here and I was debating on 3" vs 4" lift. I am wanting either 33 or 35's on it. I am going to use this as a mild offroader. I am not going rock crawling or severe climing. I will be taking it in the woods and fields for hunting and camping.

My question is what is the biggest tires and highest lift ill be able to get out of this without(being forced to) replacing drive shafts and HAVING to re-gear. I keep hearing mixed reviews. Some say theirs is just fine on 4" and 33's and some saying its a must re-gear and drive shaft issues. Is this from the hardcore crawlers that say all these mods are a must or is this something I'll have no choice but to do in the future if i go 4" and 35's?

Bulldawg My jeep has 4:10's and 35s and to me it's not underpowered.

Drive it, see if you can stand it... Ours has 4:10's and 35's and for our needs it doesn't require regearing.... Your mileage may vary.

Same tranny but Yes 4.10's would be better.
Not sure if a aftermarket tuner (tune) is out for the 11 yet to change up the shift points.

Well, I think saying the 4 speed is pitiful is exactly true. It really isn't the transmissions fault that Jeep didn't gear it right. The 4 speed runs great after it gets the gears it needed. And it really wasn't the whole JK line. More of an issue in the JKU.

ESP Don't go above 17" and better yet say under 17" wheels. If you are getting 35s make sure you understand what is necessary to run them safely and what you'll have to do to your jeep to make it happen. Also, what's going to happen to your jeep by running 35s.

Take your Jeep off road as much as possible. Do this and then decide what mods you need/want.

Lift, Rims and Tires

I just bought a 2007 Wrangler Sahara 4D 4WD Automatic Hardtop. I am going to do a suspension lift, rims and tires. I was thinking 3" lift, 18-20" Rims, 35" tires. Any suggestions if i should change that combination or would be better? Also I am a on road driver with occasional off-road use(very basic terrain) so mostly advice for on road.
