Exactly that could work or people could use the forum search function.

BTW my 2012 Rubicon should be in by Friday morning. I doubt I'll want a significant segregation of the JK forum. The JK in the end will have more in common than not.

essentially these guys do not want to here about the improvements to the 2012....I assume they were hoping that it would not be as good as it is, and now with every major magazine coming out and saying the 2012 is the best Wrangler ever, and that the value of 07-11 JK's will surely drop at least in the enthusiast market (JP), they are tired of hearing about it.....and I don't blame them.
I hear you! The 2012 Challenger SRT 392 is such leaps above my '09 SRT8 with the 6.1 HEMI. It got so bad for me I traded my Challenger in to buy a 2012 Rubicon.

That right there hit the nail on the head. When you carry an idea like this to its logical extreme and see the ridiculousness of it, it begins to take on a new perspective. Then we can get back to good ole KISS.

The only down side would be if you had a question that someone else might have some valuable input on, but will never see the post because they never visit the forum for your jeep. I still think it's a great idea. Vin specific forums are definitely the way to go.

Well Im sick of looking at 4 doors and all I want to see are 2 doors-- so there

jk'n Sometimes the devil is in the details. And another favorite saying of mine is: be careful what you ask for, you just might get it. We have important tools at our hands to filter out information that we don't want; it's called search and google. Too many sub-topics within a forum complicates it unnecessarily for the users of the forum. In forums, in general, regarding sub-topics I subscribe to the KISS club. Develop too much of a maze and users will be driven off. Too difficult to use or read.

Tom I've never known you to be sarcastic!

So does that make you an ..... and my image of you is smashed!

I have been a fan of Forums now since internet dinosaur dung was still soft and see this 2012 thing as just a microscopic bump in the road. This is a JK forum. We will get a new forum when they release the new wrangler JX were X is the next model of the complete makeover. May I suggest you use the tags to help guide users towards your threads. Another suggestion is to use your massive brain to speed read through the info you don't want and let it filter. That's what I do...

With as much traffic as their is on this forum regarding the holiness and questions about the 2012 Jeep Wrangler, they really need their own Tech forum. Maybe call it the JK "P" or something, I dunno...

Just a suggestion to maybe ease the "2012" traffic jam on the site

TJe0454 can we split the forum up based on paint color?? i hate looking at bumpers on different color jeeps. it confuses me .

God I would hope no one is really contemplating suicide over this!!! That was my point, essentially these guys do not want to here about the improvements to the 2012....I assume they were hoping that it would not be as good as it is, and now with every major magazine coming out and saying the 2012 is the best Wrangler ever, and that the value of 07-11 JK's will surely drop at least in the enthusiast market (JP), they are tired of hearing about it.....and I don't blame them.

I was pissed when I bought my 98 TJ with the AX15 and then the NV3550 came out and the mag guys were like "oooohhhh", but when my ax15 blew up in 2005, I swapped in a brand new NV3550!! Problem solved.

I own a 46 CJ2A and it has 60 hp.......so even the 3.8 has almost 4 times as much power!!! But I still love it, drive it, and enjoy it for what it is......a Jeep that leaks, creaks, and squeaks!!

Ironically, so few of the discussions revolve around engine tech. Most of the posts are things that apply to all JK's. It's just that some 12 owners seem to think that everything about the 12 is unique.
09-27-2011 01:05 AM
MikeMTJ I think that you should all just sit back, relax, and enjoy this forum that is provided to you at NO COST. It's a free wealth of information. So what if you have to sift through some crap? I dislike a ton of things people post. That doesn't mean I can't get answers to my questions.

I've never seen so many people whine and complain about a free service that is so functional and convenient.
09-26-2011 11:47 PM
su18 I kinda agree, most of them are "waiting rooms" or talks about colors... I guess I don't have room to talk I'm a newbie but it's frustrating to go to the jk section and see 9/10 threads about crush or dozer instead of slightly more useful stuff :P

I haven't gotten to the point of hanging out at another forum but I find myself on the off-topic and current sections more an skipping over the jk section

A jk is a jk... Maybe after they all get delivered we'll see less of the waiting rooms and more action shots
09-26-2011 11:40 PM
Slygrin Just a thought...

If a post is for a particular year JK, any year not just the '12s, just put the year in the subject line. If is pertains to all JKs then don't include a date. That way if someone isn't interested in reading about a particular year they can skip the post.

Jared1956 I would be p!ssed too if I owned a 07-11 JK and then the Jesus-Star came out.......I would feel like my Jeep is now worthless and I am less of a man. I would know that my girl was going to leave me for the first guy with a Jesus-Star 2012 she sees!!

I know my dog won't even want to ride in my 07-11 now after he has heard about the 2012's.

Black2012 Would be great to have a '12 section. Even if only a subsection of the JK section.
09-26-2011 09:06 PM
joe002 Fortunately the '12 problem seems (so far) to be limited to this forum...

I actually was awaiting for you to chime in and agree.

Other posters-

you keep mentioning other engines in other years/models.

the 2.5 and 4.0 were the same inline type engine and the buyer chose when going sport or SE.

I don't know about 4.0 and 4.2.

The Pstar is a significant change and the way people talk about the 2012 as it's a whole different beast (and it is)

Not sure when this forum was started but it would of made sense to just make sub forums for CJ YJ TJ Jk and call it a day.

If the mods would have to jump through hoops to pull this off, I can see it not happening.

If not WHY NOT?

I don't see what the big deal is. I do get annoyed digging through all the 2012 stuff trying to find something, but it really doesn't kill my forum experience. If we start a new forum for the 2012, maybe we should one for the 2011 as well since it got a new interior, or maybe the 2010 since it got a new foglight bulb? The foglight bulb change is actually far more annoying to my forum experience than the engine change. I've been searching for some fog light info for weeks and everytime I think I've found what I need it turns out to be for an 07-09 model.

Once the fever breaks things will be normal again, although since I've only been here a couple of months normal for me is having all the 2012 stuff on the forum.
Yes, the 4.0 came from the 4.2. I was just being an a$$ to illustrate the absurdity of a separate 2012 forum.
