Sup guys, as I'm downloading music via USB, it gets stuck at 55% and freezes for a few seconds. Then, the whole hard drive reboots itself. Is it just a bad file on the USB? This hasn't happened before with other music. HELP

dude... that reminds me, I have to nag these guys now. Who know's how long its been and I still don't have a replacement. Time to bitch up a storm...
Glad yours got fixed, hopefully its not a recurring problem, and just a batch of bad units.

Radio has been replaced and seems to work well but during the install the tech scratched up the dashboard ...
Now I have to go back and get the dash fix

Interesting... my 730N finally got unbearably bad. After the last "fix" of formatting the hard drive, I kept having problems. Now it just stops in the middle of a HDD song. The hard drive is clearly bad on this guy, as the same songs will play just fine from the USB stick with no problems.
I just setup and appointment to get it seen by the dealer on Friday morning (10/28), when I go in for an oil change. Hopefully they don't give me that same kind of crap on "we don't know when you'll ever get a replacement..." or I'll be requesting a formal refund for the full price of it. This thing is barely a month old...
Will update on what happens.

|kpeoples||My 730n freezes at least once a week! I have taken to the dealer twice and they told me that Jeep is not shipping any new units unit they figure out how to fix them and the dealer has no idea when that might me. Not sure that I believe the dealer. I have disconnected the battery twice now and they has not helped .|

I'm assuming the 430 can be updated as well.... That might be enough of a reason to allow me to spring for Nav. It would also be great if the system could be linked to a cell phone...thus allowing me to track where the Jeep is at if I'm not in it. (Not that I'm a fan of big brother tech).

Well, never got it to the dealer, since when I went in they were too busy to take a look.
However, I no longer have the problem I was experiencing.
Here's what happened:
I pulled the battery, still did not resolve the problem. The Nav system would boot, and then I would get stuck at the Warning Screen with the "I Agree" button, with an unresponsive radio that was frozen, can't even power it off.
However, I noticed that at first boot, I had like 2 seconds that the device was active. I suspected that it was indeed a hard drive problem, but more of a corrupt file problem. I suspected a corrupt file because, more than once, I stopped the Jeep while it was in the middle of ripping a CD to the HDD, and also while transferring large amounts of music from a USB stick. Both times, it did not resume, so I assumed that maybe a few files were half written.
So, given the 2 second window. At boot, I quickly tapped the "I accept" button, then with my finger already on the "Radio/Media" button, I hit that button, and quickly hit the AUX soft button on the screen. Managed to do it before it froze, and then when it was no longer trying to resume playing music from the HDD, the radio never froze again.
I had full access, to NAV, menus, etc. -- I then proceeded to go into the Menu area and delete all files from the hard drive. I reloaded files from the USB stick, and those play fine and everything works fine now.
So, 2 things may have happened.
1. I corrupted a file on the hard drive, and when it tried to read it, it would freeze up.
2. I do have a hard drive that may be going bad, and I got lucky this time...
I think it may be the corruption, because I wondered after a few times, if the device went into standby after writing the last file, or if the power was just cut once I opened the door and the file was half written on the drive.
But, only time will tell, if I have the problem again, I will post up. But, do be aware that you may possibly corrupt the hard drive if you start to transfer a folder with hundreds of files and have to turn off the Jeep before the transfer is complete. It does not resume, and it will leave it half done.

I have 2 of these units, and they never freeze.
Sounds like the internal hard drive is failing.
Time to get a new one from the dealer...

730N Media Center Navigation Freezing
Just wanted to post up and see if anyone has experienced any problems with the 730N Media Center Navigation System freezing up? This morning, my 730N was not responding to touch, and I powered down the Jeep and the system would not auto shut off. It eventually did after about a minute. However, the next time it powered on, it still failed to fully load. It loads up to the music player, but then never starts playing a song from the HDD, and the screen is frozen and unresponsive to touch again. My 45 minute commute to work, it never finished loading and was just frozen.
Later, I will locate the radio fuse and pull it to see if this corrects the problem. If not, will pull the battery and perform a reset like that. However, I want to post my experience and see if anyone else has experienced this before, or if I should expect to continue having problems with my 730N if freezing is something abnormal.
Will post up when/if I get this thing running again.
I guess I should also mention, that one time when the Jeep was 2 days old, I lost control of the windows. I could not lower any window, not even the driver, and the lock was not enabled to lock out the windows. However, after I turned off the Jeep, it resumed working. Interesting little quirks...
