You can pull it in one piece but the risk of damaging the fenders and grill is pretty high. There is a reason the grill floats on one mount with some soft snubbers that rest on the frame and that is to save the fenders.

It's also a lot easier to disco the engine harness and what not when you have much better access. You have brake lines, steering, battery and several other things that need disconnecting to remove the body and it's just easier with the front clip out of the way.

For the hood, pull the cowl and remove the bolts out of the hinges at that spot rather than damage the paint on the ones on the hood.

I'm not a serious wheeler. I joke around a lot.

But I think that would make it a lot harder for any water that gets in or soaks into the foam to dry out. I could be wrong and usually am.

I saw a guy at a show that filled every nook and cranny of his '84 CJ5 frame with that insulation foam.

What do you serious wheelers think of that?

you wouldn't happen to have a write up to refernece would you? I need to do the exact same thing and I want to know exactly what all I'm going to need to remove. I hate road salt.

MickeTJ After every wheeling I do, I stick the gardenhose in the frame and let it flush out. Good to do once every winter aswell, due to roadsalt. Just a tip.

VETTE68327 It took about about 2 ten hour days with 2 guys and a couple more popping in and out to help. Put new brake and fuel lines, shocks and fuel tank straps Also had to weld/repair 2 body mounts

The frame rusted all along the drivers side. Was filled with sand and rotted from the inside out. I recommend EVERYONE check the frame for dirt or mud inside it

Ibuildembig They are essentially the same as a YJ and CJ, I sometimes pull um off whole like you want to. You just have to check and triple check everything before, during, and after to make sure you dont yank something out that cant be put back.

vekrause I'm sure others have better insight, but I would also think certain lines/components tie the frame/motor/tub together. Steering, a/c, exhaust come to mind. To the brake or fuel lines attach to the body or frame?

Vector6 yes the "tub" bolts to the "frame" with 11 bolts

one of which is under the radiator support.

it is much easier to remove the rad support/fenders first.. it makes it a heck of alot easier to unhook everything in the engine compartment.

Body removal

OK Ladies and Gentlemen, can the TJ body come off the frame in one unit? Betty needs a new backbone and I wanna get her back on the road. Any help or advise will be appreciated! KEEP THOSE JEEPS ROLLING!
