I bought a used Wrangler in NJ and live in PA but it was from a private party (individual) - not a dealer.
When I paid the dude and received the title , I had to take the title to the NJDOT to buy a temporary tag (I needed to drive the Jeep home) - good for 20 days and cost around $5.
When I got back to PA I went to a local notary with the title and a bill of sale (which I didn't really need), a picture or tracing of the VIN, and proof of insurance. That's when I paid the sales tax, registered the Jeep in PA, and got my pink slip and tag (with registration card and title arriving in a week or so from PennDOT) . Once registered, you still have like 10-days to get inspected.
It sounds like the NJ dealer collected your PA taxes and forwarded to PennDOT and the paperwork/tag will come shortly.
I don't know if any of that helped or not - but that's my story :-)

Live in Pa, bought in NJ Question
So I just bought a 2012 JKU in Cherry Hill NJ, but I live over in Bucks County. Has anyone bought out of state before? I am wondering if this process is correct.
When at the dealer, they where telling me I don't need any other temp paperwork while waiting for my registration and tags to be mailed to me. They did put up a NJ Non-Resident Temp Tag. They say I will receive my registration and Tags in the mail in 2-3 weeks. I must have asked them 20 times if that is all I need since I remember having a pink form that was my temp registration ppwk on my previous car when I bought it. But of course I have never bought out side of PA before.
So the jeep doesn't have pa inspection stickers either. So I call me local garage that I usually get all my cars inspected at and of course they are telling me they need the pink copy of form mv-1 which is my temp registration form to inspect it. She also tells me what I thought in that that form is what I need to carry on me when driving.
I called the dealer, waiting on a call back. Just wondering if anyone has had this issue also. I just don't like the idea of driving around with a NJ non-resident temp tag, no pa temp registration form, and no inspection stickers.
