unobtainium... Man, I crack me up! I have been waiting to use that one!
thanks for the advice...but I think I'll stick with the sudo 4000 setup with the high cap voltometer tweeters and polysorbinite wires attached to the ectoplasmic dome

foxinthemudd anything I should look for in a good speaker (shows you how much I know about speakers huh...)

AzTJ go for some more infinity's or Polk.

foxinthemudd I have infiniti's up front but I just need the two sound bar speakers...

AzTJ My vote would be for a decent 5.25" component system in the sound bar and then a decent set of 5.25" 2-ways in the dash. You should be able to get good sound out of them if your headunit puts out decent power.

foxinthemudd and thats the problem I'm having I have a soft top and like my music LOUD but a good sound is always the right way to go. I have the 10" sub in the back (wich might be going to a 10" solo beric in the rear seat) give me some suggestions and places to get them if ya'll could

jgwalt theres a lot a speaker technical info and crap but i say get something that can handle some power because in my wrangler with a soft top, music isnt even audible unless its over half way turned up..but i do have an exhaust leak at the manifold and mud tires and there is a lot of wind noise btw i have 6.5in round pioneers overhead

TXST8tj i personally have the Kicker KS525s. i ran two sets of them in my previous TJ....pair in the dash and pair in the soundbar. they sound great and are marine grade. i bought both pair on ebay for $80.
kicker has a larger tweeter than most which kicks the highs out better than most, which is obviously good for an open-top vehicle. the the highs are tight and sharp. the lows are as good as they are going to get from a coaxial speaker.
don't get caught up in that 3-4 way coaxial speaker crap. you don't benefit from their "super tweeters"....unless you're a dog.

i pulled those speakers out of the TJ when i sold it and am now running them in my Ranger.

my 'new' TJ came with some Polk DB651s. they are nice, but i do not like them as much as the kickers. they are just not as crisp, and they are a 6.5" vs the 5.25" of the kickers. the polks are are also marine grade. unless you are spraying the inside of your jeep with a hose pointed north, they are not going to get wet, so being marine grade is not really a big deal...doesn't hurt by any means though. marine grade for the dash speakers is a good idea though. if you match speakers (which you should) you would end up with marine grade in the soundbar by default anyway.

debruins yeha i would get marine speakers if i had the choice, then i wouldnt have to worry about if it's raining needing a top

sho_greg I havent read anything good about Kicker speakers... Read more than enough good about POLK and of course Infinity. But if you go to Crutchfield you can read some reviews on these Polk speakers... 5 Stars... and they are water proof or resistant or something...

kuotown Kicker speakers are decent speakers, but you might try going to a local shop like best buy or circuit city or even walmart and listening to a similar speaker. Those are two way speakers so they are going to give you a different sound than you would get from a good three or four way speaker. If you like the sound quality from a two way speaker then by all means go for it! I personally would go with Alpine Type S speakers, but its a lot more money. I would choose those due to the fact that I have had them in other vehicles and they gave great sound and were plenty loud without giving fuzz. Driving with the top off I tend to turn the stereo up quite a bit so that is important to me. There are tons of options out there for good speakers, but I would try to get a good deal on a 3 way or 4 way speaker with a rubber surround instead of the foam if you can. Also if you have an aftermarket head unit try to get a higher RMS rating and Peak rating as most head units will put out more than those kicker speakers are designed to handle. Just food for thought!
