n2jeepn Hey siffriver,

My experience and observations with siping in off roading is: If you spin your tires a lot you will chunk out tread in time. In Moab for most tires that I have seen, that are siped, mud or AT, they show chunking in the tread.

My BFG ATís are siped and I run them in the winter, GREAT winter traction. My BFG KM2ís I did not siped and run them in the summer and rock crawling.

Most tires on or off road, ATís or Mud terrains, will benefit from siping and you will see improved traction. Just donít spin your tires a lot as chunking will happen in time.

For 5 tires, Goodyear LT285 70r17s drop shipped plus a couple of items it was 159.00. The other items were small. Then I get 100 back from Tread Lightly on the goodyears...reminds me I need to mail that receipt off. I have my own tire mounter, balance and full vehicle lift so I do save on mounting and whatnot. But the tires were 299 ea but if I went to a local dealer they ran me 60 more apiece and it didn't matter where I went plus they would have to backorder them and informed me I'd be waiting a month or so. I'm impatient, I don't have a month for rubbers. I want my rubbers and I want them now. uh... lol, that was awkward.

JDsDream Before going elsewhere for tires check out the vendor section of the forum. Discount tires is a WF sponsor and they take good care of us.

I ordered my MT/R's from Quadratec 10 days ago, took 5 to deliver factory direct. Granted I don't get a road hazzard warrantee from Big-O, Discount, etc but I'll buy a single as a spare from one of those companies and if anything happens I have that coverage without the wait for 4 new shoes.

I don't know first hand as my tires are siped from the factory so I'm just rattling off information I've heard. They should be able to just do the inner lugs. And yes I'm sure they'll say anything to get you to swipe your card. To be fair, it may not chunk if you don't wheel it. Then again if you got those tires I imagine you'll hit some trails.

So what other tires are good for the rocks and dirt? Can't decide. Or should I just wind up ordering the MTR kevlars or KM2's and drive with a lift and tiny stock tires till they come in?
