stroh ETA changes between the 21st, 22nd, and 23rd. Currently it's on a railcar somewhere south of Louisville, KY.

Jeepin Dave Also hoping to go with Pat. Glad to know Pat's Dealership accepts USAA.

When I ran their zip code, his dealership did not come up.

Deciding on final things like do I order a set of half doors along with the regular doors and what effect it will have.

After filling out the form, my voice mail box and email box quickly filled up.

I joined while on Active Duty. Also have been honorably discharged twice.

USAA Reps address me at former rank which sounds strange. Tell them to call me Dave but they do not like to do it.

It looks like your order is moving quickly. Any expcted delivery date?

stroh When I called this morning to inquire, a USAA customer service rep, although not familiar with the incentive, said that many of their benefits are only available to certain members depending on membership eligibility. That is, a member that is eligible because they are active duty can qualify for more benefits than a member that is not.

A brief overview of their website shows that there seems to be several different levels of eligibility, active duty, retired, honorably discharged, families of the above, and the general public, each qualifying for different levels of benefit.

I qualify for membership as an honorably discharged veteran and went through the car buying service section of the website and was able to get a certificate that makes me eligible for the $1000 rebate. The downside of going online and filling out the car buying service information to see if I qualified is the almost immediate phone calls and emails from dealers trying to get my business. I must admit that some of them have very good deals but I'll stick with Pat@Fields.

Jeepin Dave Since things have changed, do not know the previous requirements.

Although busy, needed to talk to USAA Buying Service this morning. They said that the Certificates were still being issued.

That the $1,000 extra discount is currently continuous.

Delivery can be after Jan 2.

To qualify for the $1,000 extra discount, one had to qualify for USAA Insurance. This is military, prior military and immediate family.

Forgot to check but think Certificate can be used at any dealer after it is issued.

Jeepin Dave Pat, as normal, thanks for the information. Will try to send some business your way.

I am a regular USAA member and do not know all the new rules. For additional information, I would call USAA Buying Service and/or go to the web site.

Buying Service told me they expected the promo to be extended after Jan 2 but it was up to Jeep.

Also told that the certificates were expected to be issued after Oct 31 but it was up to Jeep.

In my case, logged onto the USAA web site on Oct 31 and printed out several certificates. It was just a matter of selecting options, accepting pricing, and clicking on <Print> button.

Reason for several certificates: travel much for work and pleasure.

Sometimes go to a client’s site and there for several years.

Other times fly from Las Vegas to Boston on Monday morning. Work in Boston until Wednesday afternoon. Wednesday afternoon fly to LA. Work in LA Thursday and Friday. Friday night or Saturday morning, fly to Las Vegas. Even General Motors is one of my clients.

Have rented low end cars for over $1,000 a month. This would go a long way on Jeep payments and be much more fun !!!

As such, interested in buying several Jeeps:
Crush JKRU
Gecko JKRU
Cherry Red GC Overland with 5.7 and off-road

Can afford payments but financing might be hard in today’s world.
Bought the silver 2008 JKRU with cash but will not be able to this time.

For current program rules, would go to USAA.

If not eligible, remember that some members have paid horrific prices on many levels.

mjf232 Thanks for ur help Pat
11-11-2011 07:17 PM
pat@fieldsauto.com They did this last year too. Only certain members got the certificate. No clue on how the members were picked
11-11-2011 07:12 PM
mjf232 oh, i interpreted that as a member would apply for the certificate and get one. Doesnt make sense that only select members would be eligable, and what makes one eligable?

Thanks again Pat, thinkn TL might just be easier.

Do u know if TL offers the same options deal as usaa, meaning are the options also at invoice price like they are with usaa?
11-11-2011 07:05 PM
pat@fieldsauto.com Not all USAA members are eligible for this program. Only customers who have a certificate are eligible to participate.
The certificate must be presented to a franchised Chrysler Group LLC dealer in the United States at the time of retail purchase or lease of an eligible vehicle.

It is good until Jan, but if you read all of the rules not every member will get the $1000.

mjf232 Is this $1000 deal done? thought i read somewhere it was extended? Anyone know if its still going on and unitl when? Thanks.

Still debating on going with usaa or tread lightly. My dad is a member so i would just have to join under him, if its a better deal than TL.
10-19-2011 11:47 AM
DrHolliday I used the USAA discount on my 2011 rubi this spring. Great service. I did find out one thing though. In the northern VA area there are a bunch of Jeep dealers that all have a slightly different price for the USAA discount. I wound up talking to 4 of them and they didn't move on the price of the vehicle at all, but I got them competing on the price of the trade in to the point where one dealer uped the trade value and said they would take an extra $1500 off the USAA price to make the deal, thats the one we bought.

Just wanted to put this out there for people that have a couple dealers in the same area... you can get the dealers to come down more if you show them the dealer 5 miles away is giving a better deal. I'll have to look again, but MSRP on our 2 door rubi was ~$34,000 and we paid ~$28,000 before trade.

The deal is structured that the dealer price is what is agreed to on the certificate and that price includes the incentive. I do not believe dealers are supposed to combine but they might.
10-18-2011 07:54 PM
Dogface I compared the two today and saved about $600 using USAA over TL...

onelostokie73 I used this on my 2011 JK. Great deal, no haggle pricing that no other dealer could beat, unless they were a USAA partner dealership.
10-17-2011 07:28 AM
theStickbug Just bought our 2012 JKU Sport, yesterday, and we got the $1000 USAA incentive. Really helped to sway our decision, since the USAA deal brought the price down to almost what we'd pay for a used 2010, in our area.

USAA rocks!
10-16-2011 01:58 PM
Jeepin Dave Was told that Las Vegas was one of the higher priced areas.

Do not know if this is true.
10-16-2011 01:31 PM
Dogface My dlr will only give me 1% with TL...That amounts to about $320. Uhhh...I think I'll call USAA tomorrow !
10-16-2011 01:07 PM
ShaneDiddy I checked out the USAA stuff today in my area. I was able to negotiate the 2% under Invoice with TL and here is how it compared to the USAA price in my Las Vegas area:

Tread Lightly 2% + $500 Military = 25,906 before Tax and fees

1st Dealer (Chapman Jeep Dodge in Henderson) USAA price with USAA $1000 = $25,710 before Tax and Fees

2nd Dealer (Chapman Chrysler Jeep Dodge on Sahara rd) USAA price with USAA $1000 = $26,010 before Tax and Fees

The Dealer I ordered my Jeep from is the 2nd one as when I first ordered the USAA price wasn't available for the 2012 models yet(weird that the USAA prices differ at the two franchises of same dealer group)...however the 2% under with TL beat their USAA price for that particular dealer anyway unless they gave me the additional $500 military discount along with the $1000 USAA discount that is not supposed to combine....we'll see

Also I did notice the Invoice price on USAA was arounf $60 more than the actual invoice price I have when I ordered my Jeep .....its because if you get the 23S Package and the connectivity group package then since they both contain some of the same things the price of the connectivity group goes down. USAA site doesn't account for this and keeps the original price.
10-16-2011 01:08 AM
ugotda7 If this helps - I used USAA on my 2012 about two weeks ago, it had an extra $1000 incentive in addition to the discount which was clearly shown separately.
10-15-2011 04:39 PM
BBDad57 So I just called them and got the answers. The actual buying service is closed but there area couple of agents that know about the program.

I spoke with one and she confirmed 2012's are eligible. She is calling my dealership.

She also told me the $1,000 is baked in the price on the certificate.
10-15-2011 03:56 PM
Jeepin Dave Called the main USAA number about 3 hours ago.

The USAA operator would not give me the direct number to B.S. since they were open (Sat). They may have closed between your call and mine.

Got transferred (it could have been an overall call center but the operator had an extension number - did not get this).

The person was able to pull up my records and sounded knowledgeable.

He said they keep the web site up to date (have not checked it yet).

Do not know if the incentive is baked in. A basic unlimited was around $20,000.

Will run a comparison of the USAA web site prices compared to 2% off Invoice for U Rubi.

Representative also said that the discount was from Jeep to the dealer. If the Jeep did not make it in by Jan 2, it was up to the dealer to decide if they would still honor it.

The $1,000 Additional Incentive’s dates are correct.
There will probably be Additional Incentives Programs but probably not until the end of the model year.
Covers 2012 and ordered Jeeps.
Already knew that different areas had different discounts. If an area has only one Jeep Dealership and thus no competition, the prices will likely be higher.
If there are many Jeep Dealerships, the prices are likely to be lower.
Had USAA B.S. run a few. Norcross, Georgia (suburb of Atlanta) – 30092 is $600 cheaper than Louisville, Kentucky. Norcross is also $200 cheaper than the dealer in SC that I bought the 2008 JKU Rubi from.
Was surprised at this big a difference.
Jeepin Dave

Your note confuses me more, when I called they told me the Buying Service was closed. Also if you print the certificate and read the fine print you will see what I mean.

One other question, is this incentive baked into the final price printed or is it in addition to?
10-15-2011 02:21 PM
BBDad57 So apologies may be in order. Even though I built a Sahara on the USAA website and it showed the 1,000 incentive for this vehicle, the fine print stated 2011 only. The dealer was not aware of this and when I called USAA the buying service is closed on Saturdays. I need to call on Monday.

More to come.

CoryS-at-BobBakerCJD USAA rebates are different on every vehicle, and they aren't supposed to be combined with military discounts, but for the most part USAA deals are better than employee deals. On some 2011 Ram Trucks, I'm writing deals over $11k back of MSRP for USAA members. Definitely the way to go. On Wranglers they are about the same as most other Affiliate deals, but still lower pricing than most dealers are willing to negotiate.
10-15-2011 09:14 AM
Mr. E Come to think of it I got the military discount and an additional $500 off because I had previously bought a car from that dealership. USAA is the way to go.
