Light Crank bu No Start

I purchased a 98 Jeep Wrangler 4.0 Automatic a year ago and when I turned the key it would take two or three cranks and start. For the last three months when I turned the key it will take maybe 8-10 cranks to start, but it always did. This morning I tried to start it and it just whir whir whired in the garage. The head lights and dome lights are on but the dash lights are dim.

When I get home from work im going to check the battery etc., but it seems like something else might be amiss since it has been "slowly dying". I am trying to a bit of research over my lunch break and was hoping someone with more knowledge could give me some possibilities/thoughts as to what else i should look into.

I saw a few people mentioned the Crank Sensor......

*NOTE - I am a green mechanic, but can follow instruction and get dirty. Thanks in advance.
