pairomedicsfish There is no place on my console for a 10" speaker.....I have a '98 TJ....With the one I picked up, it takes up half of the "trunk" space....a sacrifice, but I got used to it.

Best Buy has a nice 10" sub for $35 i think im gonna stick that in my center console and make a nice hole pattern for the sound to get out.
Figure out somewhere to put the amp

sgnellett It seems the simplest thing would be to just start looking now for a factory sub console, so that when this setup gets ripped off, (cuz it most likely will, since you made it so convenient!) you could just go the route the factory did. It aint the most powerful, but it's practically invisible, does the job well enough, and you can still get more than a gallon of milk in the back of your Jeep!

Do you have a high pass filter or do you have the stock cd player?

How do you have your sub connected? to the rear speakers with a converter or through the RCAs?
If it's an after market cd player, search the manual for "high pass filter"

64panhead get a set of bass blockers. they filter out the low frequence hertz that damage the full range speakers. i have my mtx 2160 amp mounted in the dash. i removed the pocket part of the glove box door and it fits in there with room to adjust it. om running a audiobaun 12 ultra excurtion. right behind the console screwed to the floor. i have 2 other amps that i would sell 1 thats 2ch 400 watt and a 2000w 2ch that will run mono.

Triple88a for actual speakers.. if you have a sub i'd recomend you shut off the bass for the speakers so you can get clearer power out of them. I'd recommend some tweeters or something for voice bolted to the top of the dash or around that area (as long as its at or above chest level). Anyhow check out my setup if you want to see what i have in mind.

Teal J zero options if you want to be able to hear it on the highway topless. my alpine type R is in the trunk with the amp under the rear seat and its the greatest sounding system in the state of oregon.

maybe you could try putting in some bass-inclined speakers in your soundbar.

jeepohana80 Hey guys, heres what I put in my TJ. It's a 10" Infinity Base Link w/an amp built in. Speaker cost $300 and installation was $75 (Purchased all at Best Buy). I can hear the stereo loud and clear with the top down on the highway. I positioned the base of the speaker to where you have to open the rear door to remove it. As long as the rear door is locked...you can't remove the bolts that hold the base down. Removing the seat won't give anyone access either. I live in Hawaii...theft capital of the world!!!! and no problems yet.....KNOCK ON WOOD.

Triple88a oh sorry i didnt clarify.. the box it self is bolted on to the hooks on the metal with those u bolt/hooks.. So the U bolts go under and through the hooks mounted to the body and then through the box and are screwed together from inside the box. Goods to that is it looks clean, doesnt rattle and you cant steal it unless you somehow rip out all the hooks off

12-03-2007 09:56 PM
Smeghead Can i see a pic of that?
Does that mean you have no BOX just the sub cone under the seat?
12-03-2007 09:01 PM
Triple88a i got my amp bolted on to the metal right under the rear seat.. My sub is bolted on to those hooks on the sheet metal from the inside so i actually had to remove the speaker from the box and drill holes through the sub and used U hooks to tighten them from the inside... Worse part is there is no space for a screw driver so it's quite hard to get the speaker off the box to get to the nuts for the U hooks.

I currently have my rear seat taken out since the brackets that connect it (those towards the front of the jeep) are worn out and rattle... I have a black cloth over the back so all you see is black when you look through my hardtop tinted windows.

debruins but when he takes out his seat he'll be without a sub

I woudl either put one in the console or get one in a lck box kinda thing and put it behind the rear seat, i think tuffy has some of the sub box things that aren't consoles

Subwoofer

As all of us know if you want good tunes in a Jeep you gotta add some bass. Now I am not looking to be bumping my neighborhood at 2AM but i would like to hear my music on the highway top on or off without blowing my soundbar speakers. I am looking to put in a subwoofer but i do not want to put it behind my rear seat since i remove it most of the time and then the subwoofer would be exposed. And there are many people in my area looking for the 5 finger discount! Has anyone put in a sub anywhere else besides the center console or behind the seat?? Any recommendations for subs that wont be too loud but work nicely?
