But seriously. Lockers are about as usefull as a winch for getting you in stuck in some situations. When I wheel I like bieng off camber. And when only 2 wheels are on the ground. Lockers are da shiz, so glad mine came with selectables on both axles.

Bottom, line if someone asks for information about something they are wanting to understand, purchase etc, offer them the information, ask questions of your own, don't simply tell them that if they don't even know what it is or how it works that they don't have a use for it.

rrich Lockers are usually helpful - but once in a while they can be a detriment too. Like sometimes you need the wheels to be able to turn independently.

That's why selectable lockers are best.

Like a good wife with a switch on the back of her neck - when you've had enough, flip the switch.

True, but it is much easier than without lockers.

One of these days I'm going to come out to the left coast. I thought I'd be doing mudding over here but the closets ORP is all rock from glaciers. Time to armor up, then lock 'em for me.

BLK00TJ You can get through some pretty tough terrain and obstacles without lockers. You have to carefully pick your line and know when to gas and when to back up and try again. With lockers, just go.

Lockers are places where you can store your gym clothes in or various other things. They are kind of tall, Idk where you would put them. If you need storage space, yes.

ygohome Hi,

simple explanation is that a "locker" locks both axle shafts (left and right of the differential) to rotate together.

HowStuffWorks "Locking and Torsen"

also read up on how the differential works and it's purpose.

As to if you need them or not depends on where your going and if your axles and the other internals can handle it. Get some seat time on some trails. Go with someone who has experience off road and with lockers... try following them... then decide

Be ready to pay for upgrades and repairs
