LIL_red_JEEP my jeep has been throwing the code for small leak also. I have a new gas cap coming, but thanks for the info on the lines by the tank, I'll check that also.

I notice a strong gas odor in that area after fillup.

tjway just went through solving 442 code to get though NJ inspection.. Let me first tell you that after an exhaustive search on line for info...reading FSM and technicians manuals and looking for leaks in lines from front of jeep to back...

I finally dropped the gas tank... removed and cleaned skid plate...checked the (2) two evap lines (on either side of top of tank..I reinstalled straps with skid plate on ground...and didn't tighten straps too much...just enough so tank wasn't loose..the code 442 went away..(bottom of tank/skid pressing against fuel pump may have caused leak at top of tank where seal/gasket is.

To answer your question..the leak detection pump is located under the hood close to the evap canister and the duty cycle e pump and the fume filter..best thing is to invest in a shop manual...The leak detention pump pressurizes the (gas fume)evaporation emmission control system to one half PSI to check for leaks...

Check all your line for cracks or disconnections...not only rubber evap lines but also plastic..let me know how you manage.....sorry if I was long winded

2002 4.0L Wranger X giving OBD Codes again

Ok, I put my original factory gas cap back on. Where is the LDP and LDP vent valve? Are these easy to check/fix? I am kind of new to all of this so any explanation or guidance would be great. I took off the battery for an hour or so this morning to see if the codes come back after the gas cap is changed. I got these codes this morning:

P0442 - Evaporative Emission Control System Leak Detected (medium leak)
P0455 - Evaporative Emission Control System Leak Detected (large leak)
P0456 - Evaporative Emission Control System Leak Detected (very small leak)

Hit me back, thanks!!! Is there anything else I should check for these codes??
