That gold bar under the oil pan would come in contact with the upper triangulated at full bump. Had to go 3 link. And cant lower my rig5 inches cuz right now I got 6.5 inches of up travel. And at full bump my RAM is about into my radiator.. so I will just make up some new Trac bar mounts. Hopefully that will fix that axle swing.
09-25-2013 07:04 PM
yjJEEPyj The issue with the upper triangulate 4 is the cradle for my sbc350. Thats what I was originally going to go with.
09-25-2013 07:02 PM
Norcal_Chris Or just take and make another upper bracket for the pass side. Cut the bracket for the upper off the axle and just run a upper triagulated 4 and ditch the panhard.
09-25-2013 07:00 PM
Norcal_Chris Somethin like this axle side.

09-25-2013 06:56 PM
Norcal_Chris Ahh nevermind. From the other pics it looked like yoir upper was attached way out on the frame.

Little low in seperation, but that is ok.

Yoir panhard is the biggest issue. Either you take a drop yoir jeep 5 inches or make an axle side panhard tower a few inches taller, and a frame side panhard mount a few inches lower. You need to get that panhard flat at ride height

yjJEEPyj Alright Chris, Here is all the pics i just took. School me in 3 link. I did all my research in 4 link.. And then when 4 link didn't fit front i kinda just looked at a few pics and built it. Haha! dint really research like i should have. was under a deadline to get to a jeep event.

I have a Double car CV shaft. As my axle flexes up and down The Pinion stays pointed directly at the Tcase so thats all good. Main thing i hate is.. How When the passenger side tire is stuffed and the pass tire is max drop the axle shifts tward the driverside like a good 6-8 inches. Witch puts my driver tire out past my fender and the pass like under my frame.

Tell me what to fix. I got like another 20 ft of 1" 3/4 by 1/4 thick Dom tube.

yjJEEPyj These fenders were very easy to make. Did it in a after noon. They use your old fender as a base to weld these on to. Guess you could bolt on if you wanted. Maybe cost me 50$ in metal. I can get measurements if you need them. MAde from 1/4 inch steal diamond plate. Sturdy enough to stand on while working on your engine or what ever.

Each side is made from 3 peaces of Steal. Look close to see where they are welded together.

underneath you can see where i cut the old fenders out. So it was just a Flat peace sticking out from The hood.

Drug this pic out from 2 year ago. My brother cutting off the parts of the fenders.
Look at the Duck tape and see what areas were cut.

this is how I originally made them but hated it. This is how you want your fender to look. Minis the tube of course. From here you have a place to attach eh New steal to.

This is how to place the top peace to the fender. notice how it is welded to the Lip of the hood holder. From the grill all the way to were the mud flap goes vertical down.
You dont have to wled evry inch. Just spot welds will be fine.

Here you can see the only spot the Side PEace and the top plate hit is in the very corrner, The Top plate is welded to the Mud flap that goes down vertical, that mud flap also is welded to the side plate.

All you do underneith is kinda weld it in areas to connect it to the original Fender

yjJEEPyj Ok im just got home. Going to make that Fender Write up quick.
09-25-2013 05:09 PM
bbiljah Thanks brother!
09-25-2013 03:58 PM
yjJEEPyj Ill throw a write up how to when I get home
09-25-2013 03:28 PM
bbiljah I see that ou cut it, but did you bend the metal over and weld it? just you just cut it and sand it? You didn't show to much on how to do it, sick ass jeep though, tons of time and $ into her
09-25-2013 03:24 PM
yjJEEPyj I show how to do my fenders at the star of my build. An I will to one pics of th mount after work
09-25-2013 02:47 PM
bbiljah How did you get your wheel fenders like that? looks sick
09-25-2013 02:11 PM
Norcal_Chris Do you have a clearer pic of were your upper mounts to the frame?

As far as the axle shifting:

Links work best when they are flat as possible. Especially a panhard. Since yours is at such a steep angle it has a greater effect as the suspension moves. You would need to do a combo of making a taller axle side mount, and a longee frame side mount. The closer you can get your panhard to level, and the longer you can make it, the better it will work.
09-25-2013 12:55 PM
yjJEEPyj Ok so the upper needs to be higher mounted on the frame? That mount is nearly onto the floor of my rig. So the only option hold to be to move it forwards on the frame to where the frame starts to curve up. But that would MMS the link shorter unless I moved the mount on the axle forwards.. is the length of the Trac bar correct? I just done like te way the axle moves driver and passenger as it flexes. Becuse the track bar is getting shorter and longer

Norcal_Chris Must have missed this thread before. Good work

One thing I reccomend is to try and fix your 3 link before changing to a 4link. I bet you would like the way it works mich better.

The way your upper link is you have a ton of unloading and brake dive right? Also a substantial amount of caster change unser articulation.

If you took your upper link and lengthened it ( same length as your lowers) and set it around 4-5 inches above your lower frame mount it would drastically improve.

It wouldnt take much effort and would be much quicker than redoing it all and going 4link.

I like the way the backhalf is going as well!

yjJEEPyj Haha, making it full tube frame rear. Wanted more tilt on coilovers and the rear frame is rotted, so I figured it would be much stronger to use .180 Dom tube.
09-21-2013 08:31 AM
OverkillYJ Yup

yjJEEPyj That is a good idea. I'll take my gopro with me next time I go out.
09-13-2013 07:55 AM
wranglerbrother Wow. lol. Thats all i have to say.. i was following this thread for a long time and it just popped up and man.. i thought it was insane back then.. now that jeep is rediculous! Great work man! i would love to see some videos or pics from the trails lets see that bad boy in action!
09-12-2013 08:03 PM
yjJEEPyj Oh and first run out I hit a rut which sprung me into a tree on my front Right tire which blew my control link off and twisted my coilovers. so i will be sending them in for a rebuild soon. FOA is real reasonable, only charging me 100$ per shock for new shafts and all new seals.
