jrussblues As for the top, I had the same problem, had it with my yj as well, I just replaced mine with a trektop nx.

I did the cage as one of the first major mods...I'm probably overly paranoid about accidents & roll overs...seen too many pictures of trashed windshield frames laying in the drivers seat.

I was surprised how much it stiffened the Jeep up. I could always feel some frame/body flex going on when twisting the Jeep off-road, but I was really surprised when I got the cage in. All sorts of noises I didn't know were there suddenly disappeared. The ride got noticeably stiffer too.

elephantrider i run a full tummy tuck skid plate and engine skid.
also have full corner guards. still get a bit of tub
flex.

jgorm Yeah I get more than I did on my TJ. Maybe I need to take unlimited's advice and put more heavy duty armor and a bad ass roll cage in. I can see my wife saying "How much does this cost? I don't car what "unlimited" says about what to do on the jeep". haha. I gotta do 35s and the front fender lift before that.

UnlimitedLJ04 yea, theres a little body flex going on. check your body mounts & windshield bars. make sure everything is in order & tightened. a broken body mount could exaggerate the body flex issues.

as for how to fix it, I have far less body flex and frame flex vs stock. I installed a full roll cage with A-pillar tied into 3/16" steel rockers, beefy 1/4" steel full length skid plates and a beefy gas tank skid.

elephantrider check the tightness of the bars that connect the roll cage
to the window frame. mine was making some crazy noise,
checked that, and they were both loose. i also have the
sail panel issue when im running window less. i assumed it
just had to do with me wheeling it alot and the tub loosens
up. probably need some new body mounts, but not sure
on yours since you have such little miles on it.

LJ Owners, A question for you

I purchased a 2004 unlimited in July of this year with 10900 miles on it.
I have since put about 5k on it and I have noticed that there seems to be some slight body flex going on. When I take a turn hard enough to shift the center of gravity, I will get a pop (or you might call it a creek) sound from the a pillar area. While driving on our fabulous michigan roads and hitting bumps / holes, I get smaller pops and creeks from the same area.
When I took it to Silver lake this summer, I had the top on but all the windows out. After about 10 minutes of dune driving, the rear sail panels would become unhooked from the tub.

My question is: does anybody else experience this? Is it anything to worry about or try to fix?

It kinda reminds me of the flex / cowl shake that I had in my 88 mustang convertible. The only thing holding the front to the back on that car was the floorpans. I put in subframe connectors and a shock tower brace and that helped quite a bit.
