kushland well that makes sense...its about 295 miles on 1/4 tank. must not be reading right

kushland Oh your right... I was mistaken. My stock tank on my islander edition is 20 gallons.

Hghgrad That's my guess also. I never see more than 250'ish on a tank. My Cherokee gets the same 250 miles on a tank also.

Tyewilly The largest factory gas tank is 20 gal. and wrangler fuel gages are notorious for reading incorrectly. 300 miles on 19 gallons of gas is a little under 16 mpg. I'd say that 1/4 on your gage means fumes.

DirtyRob It sounds like you are running out of gas to me 300 miles?????? I would think youre gauge is wrong especially if it does it every time.

kik Sounds like your fuel sending unit might have been damaged during the "light" roll over. 30 gal. tank; some type of aftermarket hook up?

KACook I just posted about my fuel gauge stopping at 1/4 tank. The fuel gauge float was getting hung up and would not go any lower.
Try what I did. Carry a can of gas. Reset the trip odometer right when it gets to 1/4 tank and then run it out of fuel. If you get 30-50 more miles then the float is hanging up on the trough that is made into the bottom of the tank. Mine had warped from the exposure to the heat and fuel.

stykthyn I hope you have a 20 gallon tank. I have a 15 and anything over 200 is outstanding.

kushland hmm okay thanks...before i remove tank was just wanting to make sure it was not computer or some form of electronics related. Thanks for the help!

Garyk Sounds like fuel pickup has moved or the screen is blocked.....time to drop the tank.

91 YJ Islander Editon, Fuel issues at 1/4 tank, approx 300miles consistently!!!

Having problems with my jeep staying running once my mileage reaches 300 miles on tank or at about 1/4 tank. Have tried multiple cans of sea foam to no avail. Also replaced spark plugs, fuel filter (external) and cap and rotor. If i put more gas in tank, runs my fuel pump bad or maybe a baffle? Has 30 gallon tank. Previous owner had light rollover with jeep. Any help greatly appreciated
