rjs2005 If it's an O2 sensor, it would have to be the before cat sensor- the after cat sensor is little more than a catalyst efficiency monitor, and I doubt it would have any effect at all on the engine at cold start conditions.

It's likely worth changing, I don't think it's that expensive- we just replaced one on my son's 2001 (yes, I know- different engine) however, it was like 25 bucks for a plug-in replacement.

Do you remember which sensor? Would that cause the longer crank time before starting?

Sounds like it could be an O2 sensor. Startup fine and after a short while it starts to run rough for a while, then it will settle down and be fine until you shut it off and restart. Only did it sporadically when it started then it got to be every time I would start it after 6-9 months later.

I didn't notice any code at first.

wirejock X2. My '02 does this too. TPS and Fuel pump changed. I had the long crank problem. Still do, but not anywhere near as bad. It only does it a few blocks after starting and only once in a while. No codes on mine either.

05 tj sputter

I've got a 05 tj 2.4L that has a periodic rough idle and sometimes when you're drivin it it'll sputter out and seem like it's gonna stall, but after a fee seconds the power comes back in and it'll run fine for a while after that. I've heard it might be a tps or a o2 sensor, I dont have any lights on. What do y'all think?
