|z250kid||Sorry to bring up an old thread. But i have this in my 1997 wrangler and i have the light blue wire going to the turn signal harness which plugs into the headlight harness. Now it does have the fog light wire on the turn signal harness but i found a harness that does. My question is will this work now?|

Thanks to everybody for your posts. Obviously, I'm new to the forum... I really like it. I've only had my jeep since August, so hopefully I can contibute some good advice too someday!

But what fun is THAT? hehehe
I have a PDF of the wiring setup I did in mine. It is pretty much step by step, with pics and lots of dialog to walk you through it. PM me if you want a copy I can email to you. It's a 924Kb file, so I hope you don't have dialup.

|Walkeraviator||IN mine, the wires go through the grommet beside the steering column and are spliced into a wiring harness i got from Jeepsareus (prolly same as yoru fatory harness).|

|Walkeraviator||www.jeepsareus.com sells the entire wiring kit for the fatory lights. Relay and all. They have really well written instructions as well. Thats how i did mine 3 or 4 years ago.|

When I hooked up my rear fogs, the 'kit' I wanted to use with the lights I got was REALLY thin wire and I had to do a few splices to get the longer length I needed. That told me I really needed to run a custom setup so ran it all myself.
I have a writeup here that covers how I did it. Just search for 2nd switch bezel and it covers a lot of it.

Run postive wires from fogs to relay.
Run negative wires from fogs to ground (I grounded to ground on relay).
Run wire from lead on relay to battery (I fused it too).
Run wire from lead on relay to switch.
Connect wire from relay to proper lead on switch
Connect ground to a ground
If you have illuminated switches, run wire from proper lead to switched source (over by glovebox works fine)
If you have illuminated switches for when dash lights are on, run lead to orange wires in dash (I tapped of wire for HVAC illumination just above it).

|02Prove||It may be easier to start over and run the wires from light to switch than to try to tap into the factory harness. Unless you have a diagram or know what you are looking at.|

That's a very nice set up! I am very enveous, that's for sure! I've only had my Jeep since August 2007.. So it's gonna take some time to get it up to par, where I want it!!!
I don't think I have the wiring through my fenders, but I don't mind trying to run wires, as factory intent. What I don't know is where I'm suppose to run those wires to. Starting at the light end... I can feed the wires through, but where do I hook them up to tap in to that factory wire harness behind the blank? Maybe I'm supposed to go to the fuse box somewhere?

|dwdrums801||yea in my 99 i had the wiring behind the blank also but no wireing for the lights themselfs in the fenders|

Do you have the pigtails hanging under the fenders in front ready to hook up? If so, just plug em in.
If not, you may have to run wiring yourself. My 97 SE didn't have the wiring, but it DID have wiring behind the blanks for a foglamp switch. I chose not to use it since I didn't have any other wiring.
I ran custom wiring to a relay, the battery, and a switch that was just like my ARB switches. This way, they all looked alike.
This is a diagram I saved off another forum that shows the pinouts for a factory switch. BTW, you can get the ARB-style switches (made by Carling Contura) from www.otrattw.com and have it with a label on the front for about 11.00 (roughly).
You can see my switch setup here.

1997 Jeep Wrangler Fog Light HELP!!
OK... so I'm trying to install fog lamps. There is a blank next to my cigarette lighter where the fog light switch should go. I pulled the blank and found that there is a wire harness installed, ready for the switch. I've located the switch for installation and can hook up the switch with no problems. BUT, I'm not sure where the wires lead to or how to wire the light from there. Can anybody tell me where the fog light wire harness leads to? I need to know how to tap in to it on the "lighting" end of it.
anybody have a wire diagram for it?
