enjerhoo I got about $100 each when I sold mine on Ebay.

Paid for my door stops & part of my brake controller.

Bodyarmorguy It's actually 8 screws holding each in place, 4 at the top and 4 and the bottom. The front one comes off rather easy by just removing the screws. The rear one can be a little more complicated. the 4 bottom ones come off easy, the top ones require removing the entire bumper to access. I removed the bottom ones then just ripped it through the screw holes on the top. Looks much better without them.

Jeep Bumper Silver Appliques

Please contact me if you have removed the pair of silver inserts from your bumpers. I'm looking to install a pair on mine.

JeeperJake .....initially I disliked the silver inserts.....but have grown rather fond of them....

Eventually I may choose to let them run free.....

cavsvet74 I'd be interested in another set. I can paint them to match my second set of wheels.
It will allow me to do some wrenching on the Jeep without spending a lot of money.
Of course, I may get tired of changing bumper inserts every time I switch my set of wheels.

SulVento On a side note......there are (amazingly) a lot of folks who will gladly take those off your hands....they are expensive from the dealer.

Pay it forward and offer them up for free or sell them.

I pitched mine last year and had a half dozen people lining up to lynch me when they found out!

2012JKUDRVR Front comes off easy, about 6 screws. Rear requires removal of the whole plastic portion of the bumper and then 8 or so screws to remove the accent. 15 min of work tops. Stock black bumper underneath.

kbwwolf I don't know what Chrysler was thinking when they designed that. It's pretty intrusive, and actually looks kinda...cheesy, I guess.

If I didn't have a new bumper to install I'd probably be out in my garage right now taking it off.

phottomatt Very easy to do, take you 10 minutes, mine came off 30 minutes after I pulled into the driveway.

wrangler0 They're pieces of plastic screwed onto the bumper.
Take em off and your bumper will look just like a sport/rubi bumper.
11-07-2011 09:46 PM
rics1997 Wife has good taste lol. Not an expert since I don't have a Sahara but pretty sure it is the same bumper as the Sport or Rubi and the silver accent is just a cover. It is a pain from what many have posted to remove them.
11-07-2011 09:27 PM
ESP You can take them off, the bumper is the same as the ones for the Sport and Rubis. It will be all black. The silver chrome plate is just for looks.
11-07-2011 09:25 PM
panthermark I think it is 4 screws on each bumper....
Remove them...remove insert....

Silver Bumper Accents on Sahara

My wife is not a big fan of the silver bumper accents on the '12 Sahara she is going to be getting soon.

Are they additional pieces that the sport/rubicon models don't have that can be removed? If so, what is underneath? Do they need to be painted black and reapplied or just leave them off? Anyone have close up pictures to show the difference?

Or are they just the same bumper as on a sport/rubicon painted silver instead of black on those sections?
