|s14sh3r||Mine was worthless when I bought it. I adjusted the rear shoes and the parking brake cable. It's all good now. It's not hard to do, but you do need to be able to jack up the rear to turn the tires while adjusting the brakes.|

|doclouie||The emergency brake cables from both drum brakes attach to a bracket underneath the Jeep right above the rear drive shaft if I remember correctly. There is a long bolt with a nut on there to adjust the e-brake. Spray it down with some good lubricant at least once before you try and tighten it up. You may also need a pair of vise grips to hold the other end of the threaded rod. You will see what I mean when you climb under the Jeep. Welcome to the forum.|

|Eskimo||I'm not sure what brakes you do have on the rear of a 2000 wrangler but on the 98 TJ I had were drum brakes and when they would wear down it seemed like the parking brake was harder to engage so if I'm right it maybe that your brakes may just be worn but also as H8-roads said you could adjust it and cause the brakes to engage sooner or better until you need to replace your brakes|

|BlackedOutYJ||To be honest if your gonna take them apart, just go ahead and buy yourself a rebuild kit for the e-brake. They're cheap anyways.|

|H8-roads||On the inside of the rear brake drums (you can access it without taking the tire off) there's a small rubber cap. Take that off and with a flat tip screwdriver you can adjust it so your e brake tightens.|

Hey yall, I just recently purchased my first Wrangler a few weeks ago, I'm new to the community AND I'm a female, so bear with me and my limited car knowledge!
My parking brake hardly works when I park downhill. I even put it in gear but the car slips out of gear and proceeds to roll, and when this happens, the brake on the floor locks up to where I have to immediately turn my car on, hit the brakes and repark on a flatter surface so I don't end up smashing into anything hah.
Someone gimme the lowdown of what's going on?
