Is there any update on this?
I live in the same area as the OP (Carrollton/Plano area) and would like to know which shops are good and which are not, for when I need to do this.

I haven't heard from him in a while. Don't know what he ended up doing.
I know he did end up changing the cam. But something still wasn't right. Last I heard from him I think he was wanting to set it a fire and roll it off a cliff

wow, after getting all excited while reading this thread, that was a shit ending.
If they gave you an engine that doesn't run, I'd go after them faster than buzzards on road kill.
What did you find out?

|Itsfun00||It just detatches the fuel line. There is a spring in the connection that has to be moved to release the line.|

I have an 06 4.0l, with 130000k, that makes noises where it shouldn't be making noises. So I have been reading your thread with very high interest. But, what kinda tool is this that you show here and what does it do for the fuel?????? thank you for the great information too.
wow Sorry to hear of your troubles with this shop. You may have to sue them if nothing else works.

|Itsfun00||Nope. They got a lot of my money and I got an engine that doesn't run. Those kids have no idea.... That's no way to treat people|

DO NOT USE THIS SHOP FOR ANY REASON!!!!! I repeat...
DO NOT USE NTX SPEED MACHINE IN FARMERS BRANCH TEXAS FOR ANYTHING!!!!!
Yes, they are friendly and they will be happy to tell you they can do the work, then they take way longer than they say they need to do the job, and when there is a problem with their product, they will talk in circles and point you in 100 different directions and have you running around questioning everything but their build, BUT will laugh at you and get very defensive and arrogant if you question their build or even ask if they could have miscalculated something.
This is my experience and my personal recomendation so take it for what its worth, but there are so many other shops in the area I wouldn't even look at this one to do any work for you. If they can treat one person like this, they will do it to YOU!!!
Its not over, so I can't post specifics right now but I will let you all know specifics after it plays out.

|darkproximity||Well that all depends on what sort of SCR and DCR you're looking to achieve, which will dictate what octane fuel to run.. so a new cam may be in order as well.. but I agree its relatively straight forward, its not a racing motor and its probably going to have a high compression..|

You can spend as much as you want on a stroker. There is lots of fancy parts out there.
But all thats needed is a 258 crank and custom pistons. the rest is just a basic rebuild.

|bardb||What shop did you end up using?|

|darkproximity||Yeah I've been looking at various websites.. lots to consider really..|
|12-18-2011 09:22 PM|
|Itsfun00||You can get some good ideas on the stroker forum Jeepstrokers.com|

I've got a bit more research and reading to do though.. luckily im not at home to be tempted to start early.. I hope to be done by march.
Id be interested to see what parts they use in yours.. im still debating what way I wanna go with mine in case I cant sell it lol
|12-18-2011 09:10 PM|
|darkproximity||Nice.. im going to blueprint it all, and take it in and have them machine it then assemble it myself.. this will be my first motor build and I've got a friend who's interested in buying it so he'll be the guinea pig and ill put it in his yj..|

I thought of purchasing the Titan engine they have on Ebay listed as the High Performance 4.0 242 for $1895. I called them about it to see what it was all about. They said its the engine they build for their JeepSpeed race Jeep. The shipping was just to much for me to justify so i got lucky and found this shop.

|darkproximity||Im gonna be building a 4l we have laying around in my buddies garage to a stroker.. doing a 4.7? Im still debating on 4.6 or 7.. working on blueprinting it now, reading a lot into it since i plan on keeping it on low to mid octane with a low dynamic compression ratio.. :-) what are your plans? Im thinking of starting a stroker thread documenting my whole process|

Finally, after a few weeks of working on it every now and then after work, and a few Sundays I got it out and its off to the machine shop to become a STROKER..... Hopefully its back for my jeep clubs Christmas run! It will be our first time out!
This was my first time doing anything more advanced than a brake job and I have to say, thanks to the forum members, it wasn't that bad....

|Itsfun00||So, my bell housing didn't have those torques sockets like everyone's talking about I have 15 millimeter bolts ... lucky I guess|
|12-11-2011 03:49 PM|
|darkproximity||Worked perfectly for me.. :-) hope it helps you.. I was recently in a similar situation as you.. fortunately I was able to get a great deal on a 99 motor with a redone head..|

This is a tricky part to remove. I had to remove it to get to one of the bell housing bolts. Thanks again to forum members for helping me through. Turns out you carefully snap the swivel part off then pinch in the clips and pull it out.
