DJs97TJs Cracked the window since I could today for the first time in a week
It's not for some. But I like it! Looks good on the white too! 5% fronts 5% over factory rear 3 35% windshield and 5 over 35% brow

st3v3 It sure does look good body color though...I also made a new filler panel for each fender and painted that too- instead of the honeycomb.. I also painted the rear quarter armor to match.

You MAY find a better price as there is less to paint the option you are going. Might also run a "Craig's list" Type add asking/ looking for someone else who can color match or shoot in their garage......I tried that and was told it would still be about $500....I was told the paint for my '04 is costly...and there is a lot of material to cover.......

I'll have to get some quotes after i get them in. if its too much i may be learning how to spray body color auto paint. or just go bare untill i get enough money to have them done. Either way they'll be better than my smashed stock fenders

I got the steel version and painted them body color. If I could do it again I would either paint them black or get the aluminum ones and leave them bare. Color matching was a PITA- for a good match you gotta blend into the doors.. At least with a bright metallic..

Holton345 In the process of rebuilding my front end and installing a new lift. After all the nice, new bits in my wheels and steering I decided to pain my tired-looking, rusty stuff.

I am trying something different that may or may not look good. But it is paint, so I can always re-do it later if I am unhappy with the results.

I wanted to set off some of the interesting looking wheel components. I decided to repaint my dust shields gloss black, my knuckles silver, my axle ends gloss black, and the U joint body (the only visible part) silver. I will also have red Alloy USA outer shaft seals. (Whether they provide any benefit I wanted them for the looks. I am not into bling, but decided that after all this work a dress up to my axles and suspension was in order. This flash of red on a part that will hopefully work better than the plastic discs do will be a nice sight under there. And this nicer appearance to my suspension might prompt me to take more time with cleaning it after lots of mud.)

Anyway, here is one of the horror story knuckles. It was coated in a thick, scaly rust that took me two hours with four wire wheels to clean up. I then wiped it down thoroughly with mineral spirits and sprayed on two coats of the Rust-Oleum Rust Reformer black spray paint. Yeah, after two hours of powering off rust it was still a little brown. I got down to shiny metal in many spots, but not all the rust came off. So instead of the self-etching primer I had planned to use I ended up with the Rust Reformer. Hope it works okay...

After that dried over night I just went out and sprayed on two heavy coats of Rust-Oleum High Heat Ultra in silver. The axle ears and the dust shield look really pretty decent against the silver part. Pretty showy for my tastes, but I might keep it this way for a while.

I did not use caliper paint, but because they are attached to the calipers I decided to use the High Heat Ultra. I hope it is durable. The label says that it is good for automotive use, but it probably will chip easily when I bomb my way down some of our crushed limestone cotton field roads. I take more abuse from that then any sort of trail damage. Most of our real off roading is centered on muddy trails in shallow water or small, broken rick fields. The cotton field roads we run at like 40 or 50 mph, so this paint will probably not survive. But I can hope... ;-)

When all this is finished I will show pics of the result. Here is the knuckle hanging out to dry in the sun off the front bumper of my JK...

The only thing I didnt consider is I also brought it back away from the glass so now my visor hits it a little on the edge. I might bend the bracket a lil more towards the glass a bit.

But I like this way better than flipping it. Plus since everything is bolted on instead of glue its more secure
