AzTJ The inline-6(4.0L) is a very noisy motor. They might need to be adjusted, but even then it will make some noise, even more so if the exhaust is cracked.

lifter noise

I bought a 1995 rio grande and there is a noise that comes from the engine when it gets warmer- i was told it was lifter noise and it was "normal" for jeeps. it has 180k miles on it.
the jeep kinda sounds like a diesel engine does, although not that loud but still the same tapping sound.
Is there any oil additives I can use to minimize this noise? no performance issues noted with the jeep though.

Thanks!
