|TJNewbie||if you've changed your tire size but not your speedo gear, you're not going to get the correct mpg's|

well i know a few tips for you.
1.- remove all the weight that you can like tools, rear seat, or like that.
2.- inflate your tires 33-34psi
3.- Anticipate, coast, and use your brakes less. Look far down the road ahead, even if "far" means half a city block. Get into position for turn-lanes smoothly and early so that you don't have to accelerate to get in front of traffic. Anticipate stops or slow-downs ahead and take your foot off the gas: try to coast much more than you brake
4.-Don't accelerate quickly
5.-Use Cruise Control.
6.- i hear the tj max mpg point is at 50mph every 5 mph more your loss like 5%
7.-Switch to best-quality synthetic oils and filters throughout your drivetrain: engine oil, transmission fluid, differential gear oil and wheel bearing grease
8.- Keep your windows rolled up at speeds over 40 mph
9.- keep your engine well tuned
10.- use aditives on your fuel.
put 2 very powerfull magnets on your fuel line you can see this in youtube (i dont know if it works but they said it works)
use hi flow air filters
change your fan to electric fan
OR PUT AN HHO generator a good friend put one of that in his montecarlo 305 and its getting like 27 mpg or more

1. Siphon all the gas out of you tank.
2. Measure out one gallon of gas and pour it back into to gas tanks.
3. Place gas can with extra gas in back of jeep.
4. Reset trip meter.
5. Drive till you run out of gas. "Coasting does not count as mileage"
6. Check mileage on trip meter. "Mileage showing is your miles per gallon"
I just had to say this....

|BLK00TJ||My Garmin has a milage/fuel app on it. I just enter the price per gallon and amount added and it computes the mpg using the distance traveled since last fillup. It also tallies total paid in fuel but I'm afraid to look at that readout since I put on 100 miles a day.|

top off your tank...record gallons filled i.e.15.9
zero trip meter
run jeep until low fuel warning light turns on
record trip mileage i.e. 245 miles
divide total trip mileage by total gallons
245 divided by 15.9 = 15.4 mpg

Just a quick question. How do you guys compute your mpg? Do you guesstimate?(<---I can't believe that's a real word) Or is there something you use to get exactly how much you get?
Thanks a bunch!

I don't have a clue what my fuel economy is on my Jeep....I have never checked. BUT, I do think it is a good idea to know and campare just to be aware how it is running, to that end I have been guilty.
