I've had good results with jasper, in the last 5 years I've done 2 engines and a transaxle. First engine was in a 96 Oldsmobile 5 or 6 years ago. It died back in October with a blown headgasket or cracked head, I just did want to invest in another V6.
I had a 4.0L put in my 98 when an injector stuck open and wiped a cylinder, it's been in 12 months now and is running well.
The advantage of having it put in by a jasper business partner is if you have a problem with it, say it blows on your way to Disneyworld, an jasper dealer will fix it under warranty and the includes pulling and dropping in another engine. Happened to a friend of mine with his 95YJ, engine started smoking when they got to orlando and they dropped it off at a jasper dealer and had it taken care of while they were at disney.

Rebuild or new engine?
So, finally, after about three weeks of b.s. i found out my knocking engine has a worn piston skirt on cyl.#4. Needs fixing. The thing is, i have some people telling me a rebuild, which i have estimates ranging from $1400-2,500, is the way to go. My mechanic is telling me not to rebuild my engine at all and to drop a new or remanned Jasper engine in it, which will cost any where from $3,000 to $4,000. He says i will just have more problems with it down the road. I have 17 payments left on the darn thing. also, the place i will take it to get rebuilt (not my usual mechanic) offers a 3 year warranty on their engine work for $75. I think a rebuild would be just fine, but i am not sure. Any suggestions and/or advice would make my day!!! BTW, Jeep has 74,000 miles on it.
