|jackoo555||well I have replaced the alternator, and plugged the loose vacuum hoses, but there still seems to be this electrical problem. Anyone have any ideas? I am going to get a voltage meter and try to find the weak link. That is going to be interesting..|

I recently purchased the new love of my life! '87, 4.2L, 6 cyl, Wrangler! I am extremely excited about learning all there is to know about her.
We are going to be driving across country together in a few months, and I am trying to make sure she is in tip-top shape for the ride.
Aside from little fixes here and there, she is in really good condition as far as I can tell. There are a couple things I am still trying to learn about that maybe I can fix on my own. One is the vacuum hose system. There is a hose that is not attached to anything, that seems like it should be.. She has a little trouble with the cold start, and I think that might be the choke, if it's not that hose.
The other is the electrical system. She needed a new battery, which I replaced, but it seems like there might be a loose or weak connection somewhere. The gauge sits about at 8volts and dips down to none sometimes while driving. But then is up to 12volts some of the time while driving too. Having the lights on at night and then the turn signal makes the radio turn on and off sometimes.
As you can see, I have a lot to learn. I am so happy that this forum is available to me!
