|woodyaks||I was able to do this myself on my new JK but it was a huge PITA. I had to buy the smallest torx bit I could find and use needle nose pliers to remove the bolts. Then to slide the top out I had to remove the front panels of the hardtop and then tilt the rest of the hardtop forward on the roll bars. I balanced it and was able to pull out the soft top. It was sooo sketchy and not recommended at all. The only reason I did this was because I was going on a long distance trip in my new Jeep and nobody was around I had to leave ASAP to avoid traffic.|

|greenjeepgurl87||It's not difficult to get off, but the angle that you need in order to reach to unscrew the hardware you can't get at with the top on. I had to remove my hardtop to take soft top off.|

|KooL||I'm pretty sure you need to remove the hardtop. If you have an extra set of hands, it's really pretty easy. To remove the soft top, you just remove the door surrounds, the 4 screws that hold the pivot arms to the pivot bracket, and the tailgate bar brackets aside from the normal lowering the top routine. It's detailed in the manual.|
