|Dianeakamommy||It was not in my JEEP. It was a 02 mitsubishi lancer. I plan on going down the the JEEP place down the street and talking to him today too. Plus I would love to do some shopping for myself.|

|Dianeakamommy||I don't trust a regular seat belt for him. That is the reason I am not to happy using just that. I was in an accident and hit a guard rail at about 55 and not one seat belt in the car locked up and we both went face first into the dash. And no the air bags didn't go off. I have looked at some 5 point harness's and they say they have a quick release.|

|AntiTrust||actually most 5-points are street legal... you need to buy from a real dealer and they will have a tag on them letting your know.|

As for cutting you out, they do that for regular seatbelts because they latch on the side where the buckle is hard to get to. With a 5-pt harness, you (or your rescuer) just flip the lever right in the middle of your lap and you are free. There are probably some EMT folks on this list somewhere - have you ever had to cut anybody out of a harness?

I was looking for a harness for my third row install and found that most 5pt harnesses are not legal for street use (no DOT approval)
I've found schroth makes ones that are legal but doesn't seem to work on my seats. For the second row you might get it to work.

|jkjeeper06||While they are better at holding you in the seat, I'm not sure if they are a legal alternative to a seatbelt. If you get in an accident wearing a traditional seatbelt and someone needs to get you out quick, they cut the strap in any spot and you are free as it is 1 strap. A 5 point harness is just that: 5 straps. If someone needs to get you out, they have to cut 4 of them. I would probably go with just a booster seat and a regular seatbelt|

Here's a link to each company. Quadratec sells products from both companies, including harnesses, but there stuff is geared more towards those who also buy specialized replacement seats.
I bet if you called them, somebody could steer you toward something that'd keep your munchkin safe when you're cruising sans hood. Can't hurt to try.

5 point harness
I have a 08 JKU and I love to ride without the door is the warmer weather. I also have a 6 year old son that loves it to. Right now he is in a 5 point harness car seat in the middle. Well by next summer he will out grow it. Can I install a 5 point harness seat belt in the middle? If so which one would you recommend?
