mikhail2400 I finnaly finished installing the Zone 4.25" lift, the GY Durotrac 33/12.5/R15's and my new framless Softopper top. The Poison Spyder BFH w/brawler bar was sitting in the shed waiting for paint to dry so I decided to take my 17 year old out to test the Jeep a bit.

We were strictly doing low key climbing. NO MUD!!!

The bottom fell out from under us on what seemed to be dry sand. It damn sure wasn't!!

Long story short we got the Jeep out 24 hours later after getting 6 other trucks stuck. 5 of those were stuck in areas that looked completely safe. HAA!
Heres what she looks like now that I have her back home.

Were home but only after a lot of good people sweat a lot pulling come-a-longs and pushed shovels. Carrying rigging and getting muddy.
Its good to have GOOD FRIENDS!!!!!
I guess I broke her in right on the 1st day of her lifted life

Always good to see a fellow Threeper! I have been needing to sticker up my Jeep. Where did you get the large ΜΟΛΩΝ ΛΑΒΕ Decal? Its awesome.

Lumberjack Finally bought a Hilift for my Rubicon. She deserved it

NYRUBI2004 I put new ball joints, u-joints, and the wheel hub assembly on the passenger's side. The u-joints sucked. Were not easy to press out. Rides so much nicer. Imagine that.

I found the mirror from a Pontiac GrandAm circa 1995 worked the best. The cars were at the JY so I was able to also get the pigtail. The black wire goes to ground. From the cab light on the drivers side, the Yellow/Orange wire goes to the White wire on the mirror. Again, from the cab light on the drivers side, the Yellow/Black wire goes to the Orange wire on the mirror. I just replaced the TS 212-2 bulbs with LED's, but found the LED replacements to be a bit smaller. I have 2 more mirrors and pigtails if anyone wants them at cost ($12.00ea) + shipping from 92115, just PM me.

Added fender flares

Added Rugged Ridge flairs to cover a bit more of the new rims and tires. Didn't think I wanted to destroy the sides of my Jeep. Nice product, went on well. Only problems were related to the rivet nuts in the fenders rotating with the screws. After grinding a few heads off, spending about 2 hours cleaning, buffing, and waxing the wear lines off the paint, could not get them all but pretty good. The fronts cover the old line fine, just the backs will show where the old flares were if the paint does not clean up.

I found her while looking for a "sensible" used Honda Accord late one night while walking a lot after the sales goobers had headed home. It really is amazing how many people shop for cars at 4:00 AM, but even the sales guys who sit out in the lot after hours in lawn chairs eventually go home, usually well after midnight. I had tried at this lot to shop unmolested for about a month and had seen three promising Accords in the used lot. I came back at 4:00 the next night to crawl under them and poke around with my flashlight. And there was this great TJ smiling at me. It really was live at first sight. Cheesy, I know, but nonetheless true. I had a friend who was a salesman there. I wanted the commission to go to him, so I came back the next afternoon to look at the TJ a bit more thoroughly. My friend was there, but another salesman had greeted me first, so my friend was completely cut out of the deal. I was so pissed. I was going to go easy on my pal and not negotiate very hard. But I dug in when he told me that I was not allowed to switch salesmen once the greeting had been accomplished. And I wanted that damned Jeep. So I decided to be a real haggling prick. I ended up with a very good deal after walking off from the sales puke while he was in mid-sentence. I got calls from him all afternoon. I called him back and acted pissed because I was "at work" and could not accept phone calls, and that his five calls had gotten me into trouble with my boss. I then rudely told him to not call me back, that I would call him. I waited three days. In the meantime I spied out my TJ from across the interstate with an old Bushnell scope at the end of each day. It was still there. After three days I scoped him out (literally) from across the Interstate again, waiting for him to leave for lunch. This only took me 10 minutes because he told me about a hundred times to not call him from 1:30- 2:30 as that was when he took lunch. I was to call his cell phone. So when he left I called the switchboard and left him a voicemail at his desk, heh, heh, heh... Then I let him call me back like five more times. After dealing with this guy I got my price, then reneged on the trade-in vehicle. They were PISSED at me for that, but this guy kept the price the same. Then I negotiated five new tires, a matching spare Ecco rim that they got for me used but in great shape. (This SE had the Eccos, but only four, with the craptastic Jeep spare on the craptastic Jeep steel rim that they used to use on the base models.) Then I shamed them for selling a vehicle with three stars in the windshield. They fixed that, too. Honestly, this was a Honda dealer. I am sure that after that poor TJ had sat there for some time with no sales staff who could raise or lower the top or shift properly into 4WD that they did not want to let me get away. So they put up with me and dealt. (I am sure that the PO had lot a lot on the thing when he traded it in for a Honda Pilot. Poor guy. His pregnant wife made him sell his new toy because she did not want her new born to be riding in a Jeep. Oh, well. Too bad for him. So I got this thing almost new (-6,000 miles) for $12,000 with the new tires and the fixed windshield. I have beat on it for years. I have put over 150,000 miles on her, which averages out to be about 17,000 per year when I factor out this entire last 14 months she has been parked. In May of last year the 2.4L decided to throw a rod. It threw it right through the engine block. It was complete toast. We bought a matching 2003 TJ, but this time a Sport with the 4.0L, D44, 3.73, full steel doors, etc. It was in rotten shape. So we have worked on it for the past year. It is almost fully "healed" from the abuse and neglect of the PO. And now, today, my trusty steed, my first Jeep, my first vehicle that I ever bought on my own dime, is about to be trailered off to Texas to my best friend, who will install a new engine and make her into a real trail rig. I will miss her. But time moves on and I need the carport space to continue to work on my Sport. But she will never be completely gone since I cannibalized her to the extreme to fix up the Sport. The hood, fenders, tailgate, much of the interior plastics, the three seats, all the carpeting, the aftermarket bumpers and rocker guards, even the gas door and shifter ball all went into making the beat up Sport a bit nicer. So all I have to do to see my old TJ is to look at her front end sheet metal. I can see scratches I put there from a rock in 2004. I can see the touchup paint spots I did so carefully after scraping some rocks and tree stumps when in a very deep, rutted mud hole. It is all there, my personal pinstripe collection, HAHAHA!!! But my sheet metal is without dent or ding. I even too the visors from the SE. So my friend gets a flawless, rustless frame, excellent suspension and drivetrain, and a very, very clean tub and windshield/frame. And he has boxes of parts in his garage to replace the stuff I swiped from the SE. He is completely stoked to get a free TJ, even though he has to buy and install a new engine. We plan to go wheeling this Christmas. After a lifetime of friendship we have never been wheeling. We both took to this sort of stuff late in life, many years after I had moved away to join the Army. So this will be like picking up where we left off in 1985. See you again soon, baby! Now I need to finish up my build on this Sport so we can wheel without me breaking any parts, er, um, MANY parts, that is...
great story happy to hear it will stay with a caring jeeper
