Zjones1994 we have eoc (essentially offroad its mentioned on xtreme 4x4 if that helps) we also have a 4 wheel parts store.

4Jeepn Parts are not too bad to replace what you have. Any off road shops in your area?

Here is one option.

Zjones1994 that's what I thought.. I can't find spider gears for it since it has the factory lsd though

lightnin Willing to bet that the spiders are the problem. When you turn the jeep each wheel spins at a different speed because of the spider gears. The clunk I am guessing comes from the spiders turning and the broken spider teeth gap trying to mesh with the side gears.

Zjones1994 Okay I opened her up and the ring and pinion looked fine. The spider gears.. well the top and bottom ones were missing teeth.. would that be why or could it still be something else.

Zjones1994 alright i plan on friday night (no jeep till then, but first chance il have with school and work) so il take pictures and inspect.

Zjones1994 how do i know if the bearing is bad? and what should i look for?
12-06-2011 05:06 PM
knnphillips If it wobbles it sounds like a bearing is bad like the above poster said pull off the cover and look.
12-06-2011 04:55 PM
doclouie Pull off the back cover and see. So many variables at this point.

Zjones1994 atleast thats some good news. what do you think it could be? and btw when i jack it up and spin the wheel it wobbles and clunks.
12-06-2011 04:49 PM
knnphillips I'm about 100 percent sure you driving it without your axle falling out means it's not a C Clip.

Help!! 35c (Nuff said)

I have a 98 tj sport with 35c/30. Whenever i turn or change gears or reverse it will make a a loud clunk noise and jerk. I have the factory lsd. I think it might be the c clip broke but im not sure. Please any help is aprreciated! I was told not to drive it by a friend who builds crawlers (he said c clip or spring in lsd). So i limped her home.. im 17 and i know a decent amount about auto mechanics so i think i could atleast see if its the c clip. Before i go and waste the fluid i wana see what yall think.
