Bluegrass I will put up pic's as soon as i get the money for the job. I am a bit worried about the skill of my buddies welding skills but i figure if they are not up to par at least i will be able to get it somewhere to get it re welded. I will post pic's and tips on how the job went. I think Jeep has some explaining to do with all these frames rusting out. It can't be good press.

Yeah, I've since, searched google for them and I don't think he has enough frame for those. Well.. at least not that second pic.

I'm sure it can be done but in the end you'll just be building/welding a rectangle anyway. I fixed a rusted out toyota frame once and pretty much used angle iron on all for corners to basically re construct the frame. Had the customer paid me more.. I would have bought C channel (factory frame was C) or rect. stock to do it right.

Good luck on what ever path you choose. Best bet would be to buy another frame and if he doesnt want to rip the tub off for a complete frame swap.. section it.

Bluegrass they have them on for frame repair.

SiLlY The second picture in your previous post has less than 50% of the frame left. And that's a generous assumption. I bet when you start grinding.. you'll more than likely end up with a sliver of a frame. I don't know what tcaps are but I hope its steel rectangle stock in 2.5" x 4", 3/16 wall.

Bluegrass I am really hoping that i am going to be able to put t caps on it and weld it up.

SiLlY Wow.. That's pretty bad.

Bluegrass if i had the space to build a frame like that i would love to.. i had looked at doing a frame swap.. I am just going to do the best i can for now with what i have. If it doesn't look like i can i might just look for another jeep and buy it for frame and body and swap my motor..

Bluegrass going to take a sand wheel to it till all the rust is gone then go to put some t caps on it.

If left alone, the rust will eventually remove itself.
With rot that bad, your best bet is to do what I did, replace with all new steel.

Another Guy In A Jeep How exactly are you removing the rust?

The Rust Rot Repair on my 89 Wrangler

So i bought this 89 Jeep Wrangler Sahara and found out it is 20% rust but i got most of my money back and kept the jeep knowing that the top alone was worth the price of the jeep not even including the motor only has 50,500 miles original on it.

So it begins with shoots of rust and the begin of the removal.

Once I start the removal process i will post more pic's
