idiot magnet If the Jeep ever gets stolen and they run the VIN numbers after they recover it you'll be in BIG trouble!
Tampering with a VIN is a federal offense and transferring one to another one is also a federal offense.
Hidden VIN's are all over the Jeep and nearly every part has a VIN on it.

michiganadam There is infact a vin on the tub.
Is someone really going to check the vins? Really?

CJ-John I think it's a matter of what state you live in. Some are much tougher than others on that stuff. I bought a new frame and built a chevy truck from mostly a rotted out Blazer and had it in NY for years with no problems. Sold it to a guy from Connecticut and had a big hassle.

a_springfield The frame has a vin plate that is the vin the vehicle is registered under. If you use you vin on that frame you would be in serious stuff if caught

Tj vin and title rebuild question

Lookin at a 98 tj that has severe body damage from a rollover. The whole tub has been gutted including all dash panels, guages, shifter, everything even carpet! Which gets me to my point. There is no vin tag or title to this rig! I have a tj the same year with a bent frame and was wondering if i could swap out the bodys and repair the damage, repaint and run it under my vin and title or is there anything else I should do!
