amerijeep OK. I have created a sticky in each Jeep category. CJ, YJ and TJ. When we have the post that we want to use for death wobble, we'll sticky it in General Discussion and link to it from the posts I created. After we have the post, we'll only have to decide if we want to leave it open, or let it run and receive posts continuosy. Whatever everyone thinks is best.

We really only need someone to champion creating a post. Like I said, I'm not techie enough on death wobble to do it justice.

amerijeep I am for c also. I don't have the tech experience to create the thread, but I know you and quite a few others do.

bluvikng I vote C, and one that is in plain English. Some of those Tech sheets are kind of vague. They can be confusing to the average person.

Where is Jerry Bransford when we need him. He has a very precise way of putting things. I admire that mans ability to communicate, and the vast knowledge that he has.

Maybe we could inspire him to come up with a nice, clear, understandable check list.

amerijeep I'm thinking that if someone with the technical experience will create the thread, I could sticky it and it could be modified for all additional input. Then I would close the thread so that people who have more specific questions could ask in the forums.

amerijeep I'm in the process of screening death wobble threads. I'm looking to see it either:

a) I can sticky an existing thread.
b) I modify several existing threads combined.
c) We create a brand new post to sticky that is clean and straight to the point.

Input and ideas?

Any volunteers to creat the post to sticky.

Do yall think the General Tech is good or a seperate sticky for each model Jeep? I'm thinking General Tech.

No worries at all and hell no on the trouble maker. You have very valid points. All of you are the ones that use this forum and we love to hear idea's on what you think will make it better. We tweak things on the forum as we see the opportunity. All of us want to make it the best it can be. Thanks for the input.

bluvikng I still think that having a list of common elements that contribute to wobbling, in the FAQ section, would be a nice thing. It would just give a good starting point for people to be able to read about it, and if they still have questions, no problem. Maybe I am just different, in that I like to read stuff. I also like the direct, hands on approach, after reading about something that I don't know about. Knowing is half the battle. Just my two cents worth. I do not think that would make this forum any less willing to help others. It would just give us more credibility, IMO. I realize that every situation is different, and that each problem can be unique, but it would still give one a good starting point, without causing redundancy in our threads. Could it at least be put up for a vote?

I am in no way trying to cause any problems here, and I know that someone will see this as being a trouble starter. I am only trying to better facilitate those that have issues with this problem.

1BLKJP Yup, boys that's exactly what I was getting at. Loose components and or worn out bushings in the control arms.

bluvikng Had that happen on our Rubicon, and it turned out to be one of the rear control arms, that had loosened up. The rear drop bracket for the rear track bar, had also come loose. One other item to check, would be your wheel bearings. If they wear out, that could cause a front tire, wheel, to wonder.

That reminds me of a 4 wheel Dakota I used to have. Stupidly, I had gone through some deep water and warped a rotor. It warped it so bad that it had a serious case of death wobble. It would even do it when I wasn;t applying pressure on the breaks. After replacing the the rotor, I was driving smooth again.

whitebuffalo i havent seen your other post about this so i have no frame of reference but.....yes, check alignment. toed out will amke it wonder like a sunuvagun. next, have someone in the jeep with it running turn the wheels back and forth while you're underneath it. pay particular attention to both ends of the track bar (which im guessing you already did). there should be no slop on either side. next do the same thing but watch your TRE's. assuming ur aligned properly (caster way out of speck would make it feel weird too) i would strongly suspect TREs. $.02

1BLKJP When you hit the gas or brakes do you feel it wanting to tug one way or ther other ever? Maybe more in the rear than front?

jeeperman Have you had the alignment checked? If you don't have enough toe-in, that could cause the wandering and vague handling that you described, I think (haven't read the other thread yet). You should be toed-in about 1/8" I believe.

Wandering jeep folllow up

Well i checked my track bar and my jeep is still wandering. Has anyone ever had this happen to them if so what was it? Its not bad but on the hwy its hard for me to keep the jeep tracking straight. I have asked this before but cant seem to find a fix. Any help would be great. Thanks guys! And i did get my tirers checked out...
