Welcome. For a heat shield you make yourself it would all depend on where and how the filter sits. For the most basic heat shield you can go to the local big box home store and purchase a sheet of aluminum and cut it where you leave yourself some tabs to bend for a clamp to hold it to the pipe or holes for tie wraps to hold it to the radiator support and also bend it in a simple 90° to guard the filter.
It would be easier to help if I had a picture of that thing.

Rookie with a question
Hello everyone im the Rookie. I have owned several Jeeps throughout my life. Just purchased an 2008 Jeep Wrangler X 4-door. I love it, drives like a dream. Im looking forward to many new toys for her. I am going to start off by asking a question. I just purchased a cold air intake, it was a off name brand, and doesnt come with a heat shield. Can anyone steer me in the right direction either making one, or do I need it? Thanks everyone for your help.
