Whoa dude sorry for the late reply.. thanks, those are just stock sahara rims sanded down and sprayed in a spray-booth. Tires are Toyo open country M/T's, and the lift is AEV 2.5" XT dualsport suspension.

rvator Here is my 2010 with 33 12.5 15's and no lift yet. My 07 had 4.10's this one has 3.73's. 60 mph 1500 rpm = dog. Lift will be first then maybe gears.

With 33's you wont need a regear. You will notice a little power loss but not much. Just get the AEV procal or something like it and set your shift points to fit the 33in tires.

Mine is an auto - reason for resetting shift points.

Destal I have the stock 3.21's on my JKU with 285/70R17 and it's not that bad to drive everywhere. A tiny bit sluggish at times, but really now that bad. Mine is a manual though.

This is because the pre-2012 autos are terribly undergeared right from the factory. For example, if you have a non-Rubicon, you have 3.73 gears right now, but could easily go up to 5.13 on your STOCK tires. And your jeep would ride great--you'd be a lot happier with your power. By contrast, putting those same gears in my manual would be too much for highway driving--4.56 would be about as high as a manual trans could go with stock tires.

That said, plenty of pre-2012 auto owners get 33s (or even 35s) without regearing. I fully expect 33s would effect your power, but probably not dramatically so unless they were very heavy. I don't know the weight of the tires you're looking at or the weight of those wheels, but presuming you kept matters reasonable it should be alright.
What gear ratio would you recommend?

I was hoping to put 33s on at some point but I would like not to spend a ton of money to re-gear just to put bigger tires on. Do I have any other options?

Not that I won't save the money to do it because I would love them but just want to see what other options there are.

TIA

dano111 Alright all.
I've been reading up And looking at all the GREAT pictures and totally dreaming over here about what to put on my 08 JKU...

I'm a newbie and am itching to get some tires and wheels. I love the look of the Black Rock Viper 15's with 33 duratracs.
I'm about 90% sure I'm going to get this setup but want any final input from all you pros out there. Any last minute......
- feedback?
- gotchas I should watch out?
- look out for this.....?
- have you considered?

I will be mostly on the road with some light off road adventures but nothing too serious right now. Once I do start getting into the mud, will definitely look at a 2-3 inch lift but for now want to leave it stock.
I have 255/70/R18 on right now.

Thanks in advance!
Dano

Yeah, 2012 with a manual. I'm planning on the TKO's with DuraTracs. Have the TF leveling kit already to get installed. Just need to find a free day

Thanks for the help. Sounds like I will be ok

Destal I'm really happy with the 33's on my JKU. I just have a leveling kit in the front, but here is how it looks.

All wheels have backspacing. Those appear to be Moto 951s, which are 9" wide with a -12 offset, so that is approximately 4.5" of backspacing.

Lmt makes something similar. I saw them in black on another wrangler the other day in a parking lot.

OIIIIOersCreepers I was JUST LIKE YOU....I just ended up with 33 Duratracs and AEV 17 Savagre's with an AEV 2" spacer lift. I am VERY pleased. if i was on the farm and never planned to live in the city...i would prolly due the 35's. but i am not lol.

I HIGHLY suggest you to 33's and a 2-3 inch lift. you wont be disappointed.
