jadkar As far as things that are different on the 2012, I have a question.

My Arctic has a passenger side door lock switch that's busted and I can't find it on the parts catalogs and the dealer ordered the wrong one as well. The 2011 catalog is showing the door lock switch on the dash and my switches are on the doors. Can someone verify on a 2011 where the door lock switch is? If it is on the dash on 2011 then the 2012s are different.

Other different things, full face AC condenser to help make the AC cooler, mentioned 2 special edition models, engine and engine "stuff" including slight trans redesign (the biggest change of course), freedom top seals (up for debate), much better 5 spd automatic.

If you don't see an obvious special edition and you want to know from the rear if its a 2012 a keen eye will notice the Pentastar has a larger diameter tailpipe and it looks like it hangs down a little more (more noticeable).

Personally I feel bad for the 2011 owners. I know many say they aren't that bothered but I think it sucks big time!! The fact that they redesigned the interior and marketed heavily sucking buyers in and then ONE model year later they ditch the POS 3.8 mini-van engine for the new mill. I would be so f'ing fumed you have no idea!! I think its a horrible thing to do and I can't think of any other manufacturer that changed a model drastically and then 12 months later dropped a new engine in it. Why didn't they just wait and do it all together?????

Yep, I think I read it was part of the 2011 revamp of the interior. Guess it makes sense since that black stuff is on the interior

The dealer doesn't know what he's talking about. Of course after my experiences at 3 different dealers I'm not surprised. As a matter of fact I filled out the electronic survey I got sent to rate my purchase experience on Monday and one of the things it asks is if you visited any other dealers and which ones. I told it the other two and then it asks why you didn't buy from them (or something like that) and I checked the box on both dealers that said the staff wasn't knowledgeable about the product. Thankfully the one I did buy from actually was quite good (and contributed a lot to me buying from them).

There is no real difference between an 11 and 12 other than the paint engine and tranny. The curved windshield , jeep grill centered on windshield and jeep climbing a mountain are all on my 11.

If you see them in person, there's a pretty noticeable difference between BFG and the Natural Green from last year. I did think a NG at the dealer was black at first glance on a cloudy day at the dealer but a second look I could easily see it was dark green. With sun it's more obvious. My BFG even in the sun I still have to catch it right to see the green. Usually sun reflections on curves like the windshield pillar or the curve of the hood to the fender. I expect it will come out better in summer sun though. Any clouds at all, and it's black. Pictures online it's nearly impossible to tell.

Hya SeaComms!
.....for the JK export models there is the new VM Motori 428RA Common Rail Diesel (CRD) engine with a little more complicated electronics then de previous export diesel.

In Europe the pollution norm for the new VM Motori Wrangler Diesel is Euro 5.
Mine JKU from 2009 has a Euro4 pollution standard engine.

I've heard that in the US and Canada there will be a 3,0 CRD engine available for the JK's originated also from Italy (VM) as Italian-US marriage was celebrated already years ago.

Cheers
John

The soft top has a wider window as well, however both began with the '11.

Better yet, have an older JK with the "3.8L" emblem (but with the ripp gen2 supercharger), and blow away the 2012 JK! Hah! What fun!
