The new coil-on-plug design used on later distributorless 4.0L engines use doesn't do well unless both sides of the spark plug gap are identical. Jeep has issued a TSB (technical service bulletin) that upon receiving a Jeep with a bad idle or other hard to diagnose engine running problem, they are to check to make sure single-tipped platinum plugs are not installed and replace them if they are.
You should be running either non-platinum plugs or a double-tipped platinum plug like the Autolite APP985.

Spark plug questions
I just ordered the Mopar OEm high performance spark plug wires (because i work for acura but one of our other dealerships is Jeep) i got them because i got a good deal on them, but i was wondering what spark plugs everybody uses around here i have alwaus used champions before but i dont know whatelse people put in their TJ's, i always used them in my ZJ, so which ones would be the best for my rig??? Or should i stick to the ol champs
