ou812 just recently I pulled mine apart
the lil clips that hold the rods in have a tight hole for the rod to fit in,on mine the hole wore over time and when the handle is pulled the rod could pull the latch enough to open.

I took a picture of the position of all the rods in there normal position, pulled the latch and rods off,I slightly bent the rod that pulls the latch thus making it shorter, barely shorter.Re assembled and it works fine.
At about 200,000 miles it was worn out.I took a picture because almost all those rods have to come out to get to the assembly and get it out

sinjin What they said, except you can buy a whole pack of the clips in various sizes at a store like autozone for about $2. My '98 had this problem when I bought it. Replaced the broken clip and worked for a while then clip came off again. Second time I fixed it I used a zip tie around the clip and rod to make sure it didn't come undone again.

MNTNGOAT when u take ur door apart u will most likey find that theres a lil white clip that holds the rod that goes to the latch has broken. its like a 7 dollar clip at the dealership. simple fix (at least thats wat it was for me)

s3nt3nc3d Pull the door panel off...chances are the rod came off to the inside handle or one of the little plastic connectors broke. You might even be able to see it by just unscrewing the screw holding the inside handle on and pulling it out gently.

Can't open door from the inside drivers side????

So when I got home this evening I discovered that I couldn't open my drivers side door! I made sure that it was unlocked, locked and unlocked it again but that didn't seem to help. Ended up reaching through my window and opening it from the outside (at least that works!) I have the Haynes Repair Manual which I use religiously but found nothing in it that could help my problem. Has anyone else experienced this? Or does anyone have any ideas. I plan on taking the door apart tomorrow when I get home from work. Any advice would be GREATLY appreciated!!
