you can email jeep for a complete build sheet for your new TJ

denisbaldwin As much as I love my YJ, I'm thinking of getting another TJ next year. The price has come way down on the 99-2000 models around here, many of them with very low miles. Since there's no snow/road salt here, a 70k creampuff is going to be rust free and around $6-8000 now. That's something I can handle.

fourty4magjr Wow looks pretty darn clean for 137K! Love the color, my girlfriend tried to get me to wait on the jeep I got because it wasn't orange LOL!

You have the older Bestop Supertop soft top. Hopefully you can stand it more than I could. I had mine off and sold within 48 hours of owning my second TJ. Terrible designed top.

Im intrested in selling my TJ to get a YJ
what can you tell me about the diffrences in the two

besides the fuel injection
how diffrent is the ride
Hello there,
My TJ has 2.5-3.0 inch lift and bigger tires, the ride is a little bumpy. My YJ is all stock that I spent a lot of time painting and building the cosmetic parts. Here is my YJ....

My opinions are my personal experience and some might argue otherwise. please guys, no contest here....
#1
The fuel Injection really makes a difference: My YJ carbs (new one that I put in) has always had issues in winter. I'm talking about 40 degree winter in NorCal not zero/subzero, it still plays games at the signals and at takeoffs. Summer it runs just fine.
#2
I find it increasingly difficult to pass the CA smog every other year on my YJ. In 2008 it cost me about $1200 in repairs ( off course CA paid $500 for it-BTW they stopped this program) and I had to take to a "smog repair center" that was infested with low level scums.
#3
My wife finds TJ difficult to climb in and out. Mostly because of lift/tires etc
#4
The ergonomics on YJ is better that TJ: In TJ I feel I sit very much inside because of high dash board. It does not give that sunshine and free feeling...
#5
The center console in TJ is annoying and sometime impedes in the gear changes...mostly because the gears on TJ has large travel angle between shifts.
#6
No air bags on YJ:Hands down TJ, has two and passenger side can be turned off if needed.
#7
ABS: TJ has it and YJ does not.

I find both models easy to maintain, I always had door latch issues on the inside. Relatively easy fix with door panels out and some metal strings

Just bought a TJ-pictures inside

Hello Fellow Jeepers,
I recently bought a 2001 Jeep TJ. What a difference between my YJ and this... here it is. 137 K miles on it as of now.
