Thanks, it really has taken great shape over the last year. Once I decided I would not be able to help myself from doing some modifications, I put together a plan that would keep it beefy looking, but reasonable.

That eastbound trip will certainly happen before too long!

When I first saw the pic, I thought it was a for a customer!! Man that truck has really grown! But it'd look even better with that gooseneck trailer behind it hauling a blue built TJ eastbound on I-10 towards Alabama.

It's funny. When I first got it, I said I was going to leave it stock. A year later, 3" lift, wheels, tires, LED lightbar, rear bumper, auto-drop steps, stereo. Haha
Its hard to leave a vehicle stock when there is just so much offered for it to really make it one of a kind or your own

I'll be going standard. No plans to go over 35's. That's even if I decide to go 35's.

I vote for the PSC. You can't lose with the quality of either, but I think the PSC Defender series is a better looking fender. I have always been a fan of the tube style fenders (bought some pre-bent tubes to make my own some time back), but the stamped style is more of an OEM look. That also makes for a better finish for when it comes to paint or coat them.

I am not using that trunk because I put it in my buddy's daughter's TJ when I got the Corbeau Baja rear bench seat. The shape of the bench is totally different, so it would not have the same fit.

With the new cage section installed, I can finally build the new version of the trunk/sub enclosure. Between the Baja bench seat, PSC trailgate, and rear harness bar, this enclosure will require quite a different design.
With the tube behind the rear seat, I will not have the height to lift the enclosure straight up, when it comes time to install or remove it, so that is a factor I have to consider. The flat aspect of the trailgate will allow it to have more of a simple shape up against it, which just means less cuts and a tighter fit.

I also have a nicer sub for the new enclosure....nothing wrong with the JL 10w0 (running two of them in my truck), but I wanted a little more punch, so I have a 10w3v3 to take its place.


To answer your question, it did receive some direct rain. My top is almost never on, so any possibility of water, it was getting hit with it. I sprayed bedliner from a can on it and it did a great job of sealing the MDF. I did not have any issues with soggy wood or pealing or anything like that. Good coverage is the key. I would not recommend the spraycan stuff though as it was not a very thick product. It sealed it, and that was the bare minimum of what it needed to do, but it did not look as good as if using a roll-on product.
I have Monstaliner for the tub, so I plan to spray the enclosure with that at the same time.

Commando Solo I know this was a while ago and I don't know if you're still using it, but I was curious about the trunk box you made.

Did it ever get rained on directly? What did you do if anything to waterproof it?

GSXRMAN14 Sounds like you are going to be busy... I am undecided if I want to get the GenRights 4'' fenders or Poison Spyders 3'' fenders... I want to order next week but just can't make up my mind. Also, I think it will look funny with 33's because I am switching my 2.5'' rancho lift to MC 3.5'' lift. Already ordered the front upper control arms, rear trac bar, next will be front trac bar, lower f/r control arms and springs. I have currie rear adj uppers already. Do you think it will look funny?

Nothing yet. I had to shift gears a bit. I had some other projects take precedence this week.
Jeep related, I have been working on removing the back section of the rollbar to get the new one in and out of storage. I have removed all bolts except the bottom two on each side of the B pillar base plate. They are covered in that seam sealer stuff, so I am having to scrape it off before I can break those bolts loose. The rest is unbolted and ready to come out.

I am going to primer them for the time being. I plan to have the whole Jeep repainted sooner or later, and will have them painted with the rest of the Jeep. Although the fenders are aftermarket units, they are still a body part and not really an accessory (so to speak), so I want them painted to match the Jeep. The accessories are all getting the same matte black powdercoat.

With regards to painting, I have not completely ruled out doing it myself. I have never done anything like that before, but I know I am capable of it. Considering the scratches and such that it will see, I almost feel like I would be happier knowing that I spent less money doing it myself.
