Still in the shop (trip #5) and today is day 38. They say "maybe" have it back tomorrow after they replace a wire loom.

Not holding my breath...

whitebuffalo BIG BROTHER! lol. cool they put you in a real rental though. the one time i took mine in i didnt get chit. DC service is, without a doubt, the suck. glad they (sort of) made it right. now, if you'll excuse me, i have a tin foil hat to go make.

Got a call during lunch today from the dealer. No news on the truck but "we heard you aren't happy with your rental car." (its nice, but too small for my 6' 260lb linebacker butt )

"Oh, really? Where did you hear that?"

"Through the Grapevine..."

"eh?"

"Chrysler called and said they heard about it. We are going to put you in a rental truck if that is alright..."

How funny. Oh the power of the Internet

-> Wrangler Forum <- is the only site that I posted about the rental car. Looks like Corporate is watching

Thanks to whomever it was that made that call I owe you one

whitebuffalo also, i had a buddy that sued DC and won also. he had a 05 dually and the auto tranny would pop out of park into reverse if it wasnt in there good. the DC fix was to make it honk when you wernt in park :/

he got a lawyer (here in SA) and fought em for a few months and got a pretty good check as well as got to keep the truck (he loved the truck, just the park thing kinda scared him while he was hooking up his GN.

rketr Very interesting.

I know its possible...I'm sickened knowing that the uphill battle has just begun.

We shall see. So far: 5 trips and today makes day 27 in the shop.

orange05tj isn't the mega cab the one with the 40' cab?

rketr Tis in the shop again. They called the other day and asked if I could bring it by since the factory rep wanted to see it. Of course I reminded them that they said he had already looked at it, but I guess not since they could find no paperwork on it.

Also told the service manager when he called that I had just put the proper paperwork in the mail to start the lemon process.

But hey, at least this time they gave me a "rental" car. Chrysler Seabring......smallest thing I've been in in over a decade! I'm still looking for the slot in the back to put my penny so I can do wheelies down the road...

Dunno. The days just keep on adding up.

Sad thing is that its been out of commission (and in their shop) for so long, I'm kinda at the point where I'm just used to it not being here.

I'll post up more if things start developing...

...the whole thing is just disgusting...

Any luck with the truck mate?
02-11-2008 11:57 PM
hedonist Did you lemon law that thing? Aren't those things in the 40k range?

Bad ass rig but I'd be sooooooooo pissed if that happened.

Good luck mate and sorry to hear about that.

I know Tundras aren't diesel but I sure would've taken one over that.

The long and short of it is that I bought the rig with the hopes that it would be a reliable one. It hasn't been...

Look in your Owners Manual. They should have provided you with a pamphlet (they're required to by Federal Law) that explains in detail the steps you need to take to file a Lemon Law claim.

whitebuffalo i think for a lemon you have to have it in the shop 3 times for the same thing with no fix, so you're golden there. only prob is it usually requires a lawyer. have you tried a different dealer or talked to the GM yet?

rketr Picked up the truck today.

Drove about 60 miles and, of course, it started up again.

Made it home and picked up my camera. Of course as soon as I started recording it started working but then began messing up again.

Here's the new video: -> Click Here

VVJeepFreaks I had the same problem with my 2006 dodge magnum. It went into the shop four times and they replaced alot of things. If you are in CA the lemon laws work great. I made the dealer provide me with a rental car the whole time (jeep comander too.) It was a pain in the ass but it was finally fixed. That was about 2 years ago and its still running like a champ. It was even faster off the line after the fix.

Going to Gunn Dodge (where I bought it).

Not on Diesel Truck Resource, but have posted also on Cummins Forum and, just 'cause, over on Pirate. Nobody has seen this before.

Right now I'm at the point where I don't really care if they fix it. There are obviously enough gremlins in it that I don't trust it and just want it replaced. I'm sure it is going to be a painful process, but I've given plenty of time and "shot-in-the-dark" attempts to fix it.

pick I would think it would be the ECM as well. Cleared up a lot of the Injector Problems after the VP44-2nd Gen Trucks (99-02) When I lost a pump, it basically shutdown, lost all power, it was just dead, wouldn't start back up on its own. Too bad Dodge can't make a good enough truck to wrap around that motor.

tazmann910 Electical Gremlins!!
02-03-2008 10:44 PM
4point Sounds like an injector pump or lift pump issue.

ccain One of two things my friend.... I used to work at a Chrylsler / Jeep dealer... And we saw this before.

Either a speed sensor... Which I'm sure they have already replaced... It does a little more than just sense speed.... OR, my guess, ECM (computer)...

As for the lemon law... Holly crap, back in 2000 I had a new Ford Ranger.... $8000 worth of warranty work and 3 transmissions later, I still didn't have a lemon law claim! So good luck!

If you don't have that much negative equity, trade that sucker off!
02-03-2008 10:13 PM
Scout Trade it for a Toyota.

Scoob WTF is about right. Without the engine hiccup its almost like the older Jeep. Where you have to clean up the connectors behind the dash to make the gauges stop bouncing.
But I have never seen that affect the engine.

Levinoss had any issues with electrical?

I'm starting to HATE my truck!

Back in September 07, I bought a Dodge 2500 Laramie Mega Cab with the 6.7L Cummins. It currently has 7200 miles on it. It has been in the shop 3 times already for a week each for the same problem. Luckily didn't have the problem while towing my Jeep to Katemcy this weekend, but it started up today while I was taking my trailer back out to the ranch.

Luckily had my camera closeby to record what it is doing.

-> Click Here <-

What the video doesn't show is that after a while the engine starts to "hiccup." Meaning: the RPMs will drop to zero for 1/4 a second before starting back up. In short the engine feels like it shuts off for a brief second.

The effect? Imagine pounding on the brakes while at speed...

WTF is going on?

Has anybody ever done a Lemon Law claim???

This is my first Dodge...I'm sure missing my Ford right about now...
