|Mikekaz1||The whole tj v jk height thing. Jeep just cheated because they never actually made it taller or more suspension or anything. All they did was cut the bottom 4" off off all the body panels so they could fit larger tires stock... Look at the two from the side or back, TJ's have a HUGE rocker under the door and JK's have almost none. But the door jam lengths are nearly the same. And the back. Under the tailgate is the bumper on the JK's with that tire cut out. TJ's have about 4" of body under the tailgate before the bumper. And grill height is cut for the front on the JK's v TJ's|

Ya'll have it all wrong.
I put camping gear in jeep.
I ice up the Woodchuck and sammich fixings in the cooler.
I put gas in Jeep.
I take jeep to destination..hard or easy way..it matters not. Moose goes wherever.
I park Moose, set up camp, drink a woodchuck, fish, enjoy the sunset.
Moose is my jeep. She loves me. That's all that matters.

Depends on what you want to do with it. If I wanted a Jeep to run around the woods in between trees, a flat fender Willy's would be better
It also makes a difference what kind of abuse you're willing to subject it to. At one time, I had a 67 Bronco that was beat all to hell. That thing was great driving in the woods, because I didn't have to worry about denting it.

|Powder Monkey||I'd drive a YJ too. They're all Jeeps, we're just lucky enough to have some decent flavors.|

|logangrin||Okay guys look, its easily agreeable whoever owns a wrangler loves their baby. We can all agree right, tj/lj or jk/jku? But your comparing two different beasts here. For one and obvious fact, the tj and even lj with its longer wheel base still cant be compared to a 4 door jk. It just cant! And the new jks dont come in 4 cylinders. My baby is a 4 cylinder and she pushes amazing offroad, i mean hell i drove her in a ditch a few days ago and drove her right back out. So on something like that, yeah tj wins i believe cause they are "older" so people are just gonna natural dirty them up more and stuff rather than a brand new vehicle! However, the jk, while yes more economicly thought out IMO, can still what you want it to do offroad, the doors still come off, top pops off, you just have to choose if she's gonna be your play toy and strictly that and you wanna fix her up from the ground, or if you want new and technology and more space. Owning a tj, ill admit, the front can be kinds cramped, well the whole thing CAN be, but its all personal preference and regardless we can still go places noone else can jeeps a jeep, unlike anything else!|

|Some Farkin Guy||
I never liked any of the long versions of Jeeps. The scrambler and LJ look awkward to me, and The JKU with 4 doors just really sets the bar on terrible looking Jeeps in my opinion. I've mistaken them for a Hummer from the back more than once. All that means is that I would pass them up if I was looking to buy, I'll still wave and run with you on the trails all the same. Some people think orange paint is ridiculous, but I searched for it specifically. To each their own!

Google ""Jeep Stitch""
I am a TJ kind of person, I will say that up front, and I got a lot of crap last time I made this comparison, but to me, just my personal opinion, the 4 door JK looks like a Cherokee that you don't have to cut the roof off of. And, to me, just my personal opinion, they both (XJs and JKs) look silly with no doors. JUST AN OPINION ! ! ! ! Thankfully not everyone shares my views or TJ parts would be even more expensive than they are.

|GoldenSahara00||A TJ looks huge on 33s, while a JK is basically stock on 33s... just an observation.|
|05-06-2013 07:06 PM|
|swampbuggy98||The only real downside I've seen with the JK's I've wheeled with is that in the woods when I can weave my TJ through the trees, they have to either take the long way around or make a 72 point turn to get turned around if it's a four door.|

|dredg009||Ok I'm a tj guy. So I'm bias. I worked for a Chrysler dealership a few years ago. great jeeps but the second you get in trouble and realize oh shit my jeep won't let me spin my tire oops too late. I also don't like when a vehicle brakes for me. I like to be 100% in charge. Now I did eventually figure out how to shut off it would eventually come back on. Now for the jk pluses. Power wow it will go up hills on the eway. 2 ride 90mph feels like 45mph in a tj. Cargo well that's a no brainer.|

Seriously guys? One is not simply better or worse.
I'm 17 and my not have as much experience as all of you. But I know that a jeep is a jeep. We are a community! The only make and model I know of that waves to each other. My first week in my stock TJ and I thought I heard something I didn't like so I pulled off and opened the hood, I had a JKu pull of and ask if everything was alright. And 3 min. Later a TJ stopped to help.
How great are jeep people? No one cares, we all chose a wrangler because its a brilliant off road vehicle and fun. Definitely not practical but fun. I have friends with JK's and friends with TJ's each of us like the other type for certian things they have and we don't.
But no matter what, you should think your jeep is the coolest on the road. Because guess what? Its YOUR freeking jeep.
Arguments like TJ vs JK as a broad question is ridiculous. It makes us all look like fools. In the end, what does it matter? We all chose a jeep and every jeep owner I know would help out a fellow jeep in need any time regardless of jk tj Cj yj stamps. I know of no other group pike us.
Have some pride. We all drive jeeps and there fore pretty darn awesome.

|Kota7x||This is my Mom's JK and my LJ and that JK with my Father behind the wheel went everywhere I did. He was having a blast (he has a TJ) in the JK. I think they are both very capable vehicles out of the box and they do have their own quirks.|
|01-18-2012 09:50 AM|
I typically reguard it is somewhat hypocritical when I witness snobbish "elitism" from someone in a Jeep.
Its supposed to be about doing YOUR own thing....which inherently means lencouraging others do the same.
Whatever fits your needs...your wants...your budget...
(and whatever your wife agrees to)
There is give and take...no such thing as "perfect".

|Imped||Like I said, the other dimensions don't matter. Stock for stock 2dr vs. 2dr, I don't think you'll find a situation in which either one can or cannot do what the other does. The stock JK is much more durable than a stock TJ, though--much beefier steering linkages, larger tie rod ends, larger u-joints, larger ring & pinion gears (and no D35 to worry about), better belly clearance, and no low-hanging gas tank. Stock TJ's are pretty darn wimpy in a few places.|
|01-18-2012 09:35 AM|
Show me someplace a 2 door TJ can go that a 2 door JK can't. It's like bigfoot, people claim to have seen them, but nobody ever has real proof.

i went out with a buddy that had an
jk... the only thing that i noticed diff from driving his was he seemed to have more ground clearance.. and it was almost like he had had a tummy tuck done... and the fact that they come with a hill assist now... i mean dont get me wrong.. i wouldnt trade my tj... but id buy the wife jk because she says they are "pretty" and ill rock the TJ cuz i think its the ti...

I for one love the JK. In the next 2 or 3 years I'll probably replace my wife's Patriot with a JKU and take it offroad when she's not around
I LOVE my TJ though and don't think I'll ever sell it. My wife always says that when my son is old enough he can get my TJ but I always say I'll keep it and buy him his own.

Lol true but my jeep and my IMSA make up for the solstice.. lol not this summer but next summer I'm thinking about trading it in on a lotus... also i plead the 5th on the solstice... the girlfriend made me do it... (also to think i abandond my 1st TJ for it as well.. miss that thing

Far as I am concerned, they are both JEEPS! It's not like your comparing a Bronco II to a Full Size Bronco. Now that was a tragic mess
Currently own a Big Boy Bronco

|Imped||Yep.....there's more ways to gain clearance than "lift." JK's have higher clearance fenders (essentially TJ 'highline' height) and wider fender openings. Additionally, the gas tank isn't hanging low at the ass anymore and the belly is much flatter. With that said, stuff still hangs down some and that's not easy stuff to move. The potential to gain a flatter, simpler underbody is greater with a TJ but from the factory the JK wins that battle.|

|Anomaly||At my local dealer, most of the JKs are sold with a lift package pre-installed. Is that the height difference you see?|
