if no kids and you like doing trail rides i would say 2 door...
if your hauling equipment and other people now and again or if you want to get into rock crawling then go 4 door....
weighing out the options from what little you have said i would get the 4 door because you can remove the back seat easily and have the extra space for work stuff, IE tools and what not.

this could turn into a heated debate very quickly lol
first off are you planning to mod it in the future or will it stay stock? next when you say take it in the mountains what kinda of wheeling would you do. these are all questions you want to look at before buying any type of jeep

If its only for you the then two door. Married with kids four door. I bought the 4 door rubi. Power, handling, 4x4, DD and just for fun. Both r great.
Also any hunting/fishing with buddies the 4 door wins.
If $$ is an issue go 2.
Good luck and wave

|KSCRUDE||For your use get the 2 door. Makes a great commute vehicle. Be sure and get the 3.73 gears in a sport or sahara, and if you get a rubi, which I would, get the 4.10 rear end ratio. You will be happy with either setup. Don't forget, only the 3.73 or the 4.10 ratios. 3.21 and you will not be a happy camper. They will remind you of your Nissan Frontier. GUTLESS WONDER|

Newbie trying to decide 2012 2 or 4 door
Looking at buying a new Jeep in the next few weeks. A little about what I plan to do with it. I drive about 40 miles of dirt road to and from work everyday It will be a commuter vehicle. It will also become pasture broke as I will check cattle in it sometimes. I have a Dodge diesel with bale bed to feed with and stuff. Thinking of a jeep to have for fun and a little cheaper to drive. Also may tow it behind my Dodge and take it to the mountains in the summer on vacation.
I test drove a 2 door and took it out on dirt road. Is there much difference in ride with the 4 door and how they handle. I tend to drive 60-75 and am used to a full size long wheel based diesel trucks. The Jeep will replace my Nissan Fronteir that is just a gutless wonder with a 4 cyl auto.
