So there are indeed 2006 model year Wranglers.
If a mod wants to correct that 2006 to 1996 in my above post that would be appreciated.

The 1997 TJ was originally scheduled to be introduced in time to be a 1996 model but manufacturing delays forced enough of a delay that it was introduced in early '96 as a 1997 model instead. The '95 YJ was still produced into early 1996 but its official designation for registration purposes was kept as '95.
My first TJ, a 1997, was manufactured 3/96.

Welcome to the forum. There is a ton of great info to be offered here. Just ask away and you will get answers. As for the places to go, keep an eye on this section of the forum. We are pretty active with setting up runs in So. Cal.
I agree with Baitfish, take your Jeep out and play with it in stock condition. Do a few runs like that. Get a feel for what it can and cannot do. It will make you a better driver when you do go for a lift and you go onto bigger and badder trails.

as said u have a LJ which is a version of the TJ. (i also have a LJ) if u want a lift for the looks the u can do a buget boost (2inches) and a body lift(1inch). if u want trail capability then u want a full suspension replacement. buget boost and body lift maybe 500 then shocks and tires ull want 33 inch muds for the trail or ATs if ur goin to be on the street more. as for places to go. i only know a couple places in the OC theres T&J productions and and off road evoloution and all over theres 4wheel parts stores. (i had my lift installed there in PHX but they still did a good job)

First off what you have is actually a LJ being the unlimited,but if it was short it would be a tj..
As far as everything else goes i would just take your jeep out do some wheelin (very capable rig stock).
As you gain more experiance on the trail you will have a better idea of what you are after as far as mods...
Just remember to be safe and DONT go wheelin alone and most importantly HAVE FUN!!!

|Archer2k||The YJ was made from 1987 - 1995. The TJ was made from 1997 - 2005. As far as the lifting part, I don't remember where the best place to go. I've been out of the loop for a while.|

Hello to you all.
Okay first, I have a 2004 unlimited, long bed. First I'm not clear, is that a YJ, or TJ?
Second, I want to get it lifted and bigger tires, any recommendations as to a affordable place to go in the L.A. area for the work? What's a reasonable price?
Thirdly, recommendations on tire size and lift height? Would like to do some offroading, but again I'm a newby, so I won't be going crazy. Also, as I'm not exactly killing it financially, I need affordability, so the cheaper the better.
sorry for all the newby questions but I'm just starting out. Have to say I'm glad to have found this forum, and any help would be much appreciated.
