HK_Runner After my brake upgrade, I'll be putting on a rack too. The AEV one looks interesting as well. It is probably the one for me. I like the Gobi too but I think it is quite a bit more.

msellards I have done alot of Rack research and made the decision to get an MBRP rack for my 2 door 2011 JK Rubicon only to find out it wont fit. I too Contacted the Manufacturer which offered no help or encouragement.

Couple of Questions for you Forum Users
1. I have heard that a 2010 top will fit on my 2011, so now I am wondering if anyone would like to have a 2011 TOP with the bigger Window for a Straight across Trade.
2. Has anyone had any success in mounting the MBRP Rack on THIER 2011 2-door

With these Racks installed can you remove the top Panels , is there enough room ??
I have never taken mine off but Summer is on the way ....maybe.
I'd like to build one of these racks, I have seen several around here lately.
I have an inflatable Raft and 12X12 Tent....And the lil woman likes to bring along the kitchen sink and bathroom toilet.... Thanks ! "BH"

As a side note, I have not put the rack on yet, I need to get it from my father-in-law's house. Looking at pictures, I like it.

I stopped at $50 on that one a pita to get there but was doable and I wished I bid higher. Congrats on that deal.

Search for thread on Thule rain gutter racks and Jeep hard top. Not a good combination. I'd like to do it too, but after researching, looks like anything you actually mount on the rack would exceed design specs for the Jeep hardtop.

I've got a JKR that I'd like to mount a roof box, skis, bikes, kayak, etc., but about the only things that wouldn't exceed design limits are a couple pairs of skis or so.

Will probably go with the Gobi, but I'd like to be able to easily remove it and am concerned about wind noise and mpg drop if mounted full time. Plus garage door opening clearance.

I drove my '98 Durango to the top of Mt. Washington, using Yakima rack system, with a 16' canoe and roof box on top, and 4 mtn. bikes on the back, but the Durango had nice, indented rack mounting channels on the top.

Lil Dozer Yes installed myself took about 6 hours because I took my time and did 95% with no help. I put anti seize on every bolt which takes some time to not make a mess. I have some add on ideas I'm working on but happy with it overall. Suggestion being all tubing to be a tad thicker walled due to standing on top to load gear, i weigh about 150 lbs and top tube of rack being able to accept Yakima accessories not just top crossbars

tabber02 the gobi rack looks awesome! did you install it yourself? how'd it go?

1CrzyCelt only thing keeping me from getting the Body Armor Base Rack is it doesn't have cross bars and I'd rather have it attach to the rear bumper.

i2canoe I need to be able to carry my canoe.
I am looking at the Lange Rack because it is most easily removed, I also need to be able to park indoors at work and the ceiling is low.
Would love to hear some feedback about this set up.

If u have a besttop supertop beware the front cross bar can hit the rack. I made 1 inch spacers for the front mount. And weld over all openings or they will whistle.

Looks great! I justified the cost of the new rack by factoring in re-using the Yakima "stuff" from the ex-XJ: Kayak stackers and bike carriers. Now I just need to Craig's List the old cargo basket.

MLPeep I looked at the Ranger, but the Stealth is better suited for carrying boats, which Ruby had mentioned.

The photo doesn't show the Yakima bike carriers that I put on last weekend. 6-sp JK, but single speed bike bike -- go figure.
I've decided on the Gobi Ranger rack. Just haven't decided whether to temporarily put it on the stock bumper or wait till I can get the t&t customs bumper that I'm also wanting. That reverse light cut out is just too cool for me to resist. Soo many mods, soo little time

Sorry I just like showing that pic. Saw this rig going down the highway and had to take a pic. Log bumpers and bamboo rack, gotta love it.

RubyJeep Saw the Body Armor rack but requires drilling unless you have an aftermarket bumper. Looks good though.
