desertgoose Maybe it sat for long periods? Easier than opening the hood and disconnecting the ground cable from the battery.

BadMojo Dude! You SHOULD NOT HAVE REMOVED THAT BUTTON!!!! Have you never seen LOST!!! Now we know that Shadews is the one responsible for the end of the world in 2012!

SinfulDragon Alright!!!
If it starts, then its time to close up shop with a win and crack a brew while you tell your wife the AMAZING job that you just tackled!
Now is a good time to tell her an approx amount of money that you just saved so that when you buy a winch/tires/lift/skids/etc you can say "but baby, you remember when I saved us all that money doing work myself"
It doesn't work, but its fun to try it anyway.

The culprit, besides this POS device, could have been the black wire going to a white wire that you see in the pic. The white wire wasn't connected to anything? So that might have been the battery drain if it was sparking on something. Ugh.

Thanks again guys!

Kilroy ...maybe the "BATTERY BRAIN" is draining your battery. And look up battery threads here before you decide on an Optima battery.

SinfulDragon could be a bad battery, or a bad unit. I would pull it off and see if it is actually draining. If not, insert unit into trash and be on your way.
If so, find whats draining it and fix it. This work around is going to be nothing but headaches.

Can't find a date on the battery. I was going to replace it with an optima red top anyway. I guess I can just start with that.

Detailed Description
Automatically disconnects at 11.8 volts or by hand-held remote control. Reconnects by pressing the solenoid mounted button or the hand held remote.

If it automatically disconnects at 11.8 volts then what could be causing my battery drain? The radio is aftermarket but it completely turns off when the vehicle is off. There doesn't "appear" to be any other modifications.

Maybe a bad battery?

lensam Where did you find the build sheet / And maybe your keyed wire to the radio is hooked up to the battery source

that's stupid! pull that crap of and save you some trouble, as long as you don't have a draw in your system you will never need it, and if you want battery dicos than install some normal ones on the terminals

s14sh3r I can't think of a reason, unless they had something that was draining the battery and the disconnect was a quick fix.

So, now you are pressing the button, and it doesn't clear out the radio.... I'm thinking more and more along the lines of a shorted connection, I bet you'll find it spliced into the battery line that runs your radio.

Rolf I agree I'd push the shit outta it, especially if it is not connected to anything.
